A tidbit of info there (Sean & Monte interviewabout Ghostwalk -- we learn the why of the name).

This interview actually made me want to buy the book, and I haven't been too fussed until now (the non-interested bit also came from a few things that SKR said on his site about kick-ass monks... the phrase 'kick ass' always makes me uninterested...)

I'll have to have a flick through in the local game shop...

Personally, I was going to completely look over this book until they mentioned the bit about people taking bodies of the dead there, and then the info about the mortician's guild. Did that remind anybody else about certain issues of Sandman?

I'm with ya Nightfall. I was hoping my FLGS had Ghostwalk in when I went there yesterday, but no such luck.

I picked up the BoVD instead when I saw the picture of Orcus.

I just couldn't resist.

I too got a comp copy and have been looking it over.

Overall, while certainly a very solid product, I am finding that it's not tripping my trigger. Here are some of my "issues" with it:

1) Not 3.5-ready. I recall that this book was "done" quite a while ago and has kind of been in the wings waiting for its release, and it shows in things like monster stats.
2) "Ghosts are not ghosts." They have to kind of totally re-work some issues about how death works, and as such the ghost template from the MM is quite different from the ghost of Ghostwalk.
3) The adventures don't seem especially inspired, at least some of them. There seem to be adventures that aren't especially "ghostly" and don't really feature special situations/rules from this book much.
4) Lots of repeated material, particularly from the splatbooks and FR stuff. Feats, spells and magic items were the main repeats. Some people don't find that a problem or find that a benefit.
5) Some of the magic items don't seem especially inspired.
6) There's a chapter that describes the "countries" in the viscinity but (unless I missed it) there's no map. There are some maps of certain regions, and there is a map of the city of Manifest.
7) For some reason the subject matter overall just didn't seem very appealing to me personally. The mechanics of death and ectoplasm and stuff like that just didn't do it for me. It was all a little too scientific, not mystical enough.

I wouldn't let any of these points disuade anyone from taking a look at the product, but for me it would be a "maybe" purchase rather than a "must have."
