FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

July 19, 2002--Seattle, WA: Green Ronin Publishing has reached an agreement with Charles Ryan to publish a new, d20 edition of his classic RPG gun sourcebook Ultramodern Firearms.

Ultramodern Firearms was originally released by Chameleon Eclectic in 1993 and immediately garnered critical acclaim. The book sold through three print runs, but fell out of print when Chameleon Eclectic closed its doors.

"When Charles approached me about doing a d20 version of Ultramodern Firearms, all I could say was yes," said Green Ronin President Chris Pramas. "In the 90s I used the original edition all the time when running Feng Shui and Delta Green, so the opportunity to publish a d20 edition was too good to pass up."

The Green Ronin edition, scheduled for a November release, will include new entries and technical drawings, and of course complete d20 statistics. "Since Charles is on the design team for d20 Modern," adds Pramas, "the new mechanics will be impeccable."

"It's really exciting to bring this book up to date, and into a game system where it'll see a lot of great use," concludes author Charles Ryan. "I originally wrote Ultramodern Firearms because it was a book I wanted for my own games, and no previous attempt had got it quite right. Now it'll have a starring role at my gaming table again--and hopefully that of many other gamers as well!"

Sort of related question, Nicole:

I have the Dragon special that has GR's "fantasy" firearms rules, but I confess I can't find the correct OGL/section 15 to use them. Do these rules exist anywhere alongside an OGL in a more digestible and usable format?

If the Sec.15 is there and I'm just obtuse, please point it out!

Those firearms rules are included in the Freeport: City of Adverture book. That's probably your best reference. :)

Hmm... Except that the Freeport section 15 doesn't include any specific copyright allocation to Green Ronin.

I must be missing something about this license...

Erm... Nice history and background of the product, but what exactly can we expect (as i'm not familiar with the original product)? Are the fire arms described near future (cyberpunk), science fiction, or real? What kind of game system can we expect (Duh! D20, but is it just a small stat line, like a crossbow, or are the rules rewritten to make a new system)? Is it compatible with D20 modern?

More info!!! ;-)

I'm curious as to what the stats will be like. With d20 Modern now using the regular HP system, will the damages be like in Deadlands/Weird Wars/Call of Cthulhu, or will they be like in Spycraft (which uses the VP/WP system).
