Grapple vs. Armor Spikes

Hiho,

in the SRD is written that if i am in the Grapple-Status i can attack my opponent with the Armor Spikes like with a light Weapon.

But what if my opponent try to grapple me? Does the Spikes inflict automatic damage because of the grapple-try?

Imho the Spikes are on the whole Armor and my opponent should get damage if he try to grapple me?

The description states extra damage, e.g. grappling damage plus spikes damage... but there have been ambiguous statements in the FAQ IIRC.

No, the spikes only deal damage when you attack, not when you are attacked.
