1. The Joker
2. Darth Vader

Most people don't know who Moriarty is, and many people don't know who Hannibal Lector is (and in 50 years most people won't know). But the Joker and Darth Vader are ICONS and will be in the public consciousness long after we are dust.

This round is easy. The next one will be tough! And it looks like my prediction is going to come true.

Just because they're icons doesn't mean they're better villains. Honestly, if you had asked me before Episode 1 who the best villain was, I'd have said Vader. Now, after seeing Episodes 1-3, he seems more like a lost child with mommy issues who was manipulated by an evil old man because of his own insecurities rather than a badass who would kill anyone at anytime and never think twice. :(

And, if I'm right about who you predicted, I also think Vader will win. That's the reason I didn't nominate him nor did I want him nominated. Once he was in, no one else had a chance.

Hmm, rough choices here...

Well, one rough choice at least...

Hannibal vs. Joker -- They are both Mere Mortals, which is good. They both obviously enjoy their work and have a great deal of style. Both have served time in mental institutions and enjoy a good game. In the end, though, I think I'm going to give it to THE JOKER simply because his plans are so much bigger!

Vader vs. Moriarty -- Vader ... I dunno. There is still a speck of decency in him, albeit hidden deep within. Moriarty has no such restraints, so I give it to the PROFESSOR

Well you could say that Anakin and Vader are two different beings. Obi-wan did say that when Anakin became Vader the man that he was died. So my idea of who Vader is would be from the Episodes 4-6.

True, but Vader was always supposed to be pure evil. That's what made him such a cool villain. To know that he wasn't just takes away from his mystique, IMHO.

The Joker

Professor Moriarty

I finally saw Episode 3 a few nights ago, and I can no longer vote for Vader. Besides, Moriarty is the original scheming supergenius, and he has one of the best hero opponents. If my arch-nemesis was freakin' Sherlock Holmes I'd spend all of my time trying to best him too.

I choose the Joker over Lecter primarily on the strength of the animated Mark Hamill Joker, especially in the Batman Beyond movie.
