Greatest Character Showdown Round 4 (Results IN)

1. Gollum vs. Odysseus
2. Buffy Summers vs. Captain Malcolm “Mal” Reynolds
3. Gandalf vs. Robin Hood
4. Conan vs. Sherlock Holmes
5. Han Solo vs. Tarzan
6. Indiana Jones vs. Yoda
7. Batman vs. Superman
8. Captain Jack Sparrow vs. Obi-Wan Kenobi

However I loathe having to choose between Jack and Obi-Wan, Jack hasn't (willingly) sacrificed squat (yet, since we've yet to view PotC3). He's extremely likeable, true, but in the end, only an opportunist. Obi-Wan knew the moment he set foot off of Tatooine, that he'd end up in confrontation with Vader (the friend he lost), and that he'd lose. And yet he did so anyway, for the Greater Good. THAT takes character.

The defense rests its case, and may the Force be with you. Always.

1. Gollum vs. Odysseus -- tough choice. I'll go with Gollum, but either is a solid character.

2. Buffy Summers vs. Captain Malcolm “Mal” Reynolds -- neither. The first is going to be forgotten as a character within ten years and I have never heard of the latter.

3. Gandalf vs. Robin Hood -- Again, tough, but Robin has longevity, so I go with him.

4. Conan vs. Sherlock Holmes -- Easy. Brians always wins over brawn.

5. Han Solo vs. Tarzan -- Sorry, Han. You are not even in the same class.

6. Indiana Jones vs. Yoda -- Odd. I'm not sure either one will be an important character in another 50 years, but if one is important at all, I think it would be Yoda.

7. Batman vs. Superman -- Superman is boring. Batman is cool. B)

8. Captain Jack Sparrow vs. Obi-Wan Kenobi -- Again, I'm not sure down the line either will be really remembered, but at least Captain Jack has panache. ;)

This is a fun poll, I just can't believe that the two characters in category 2 made it this far. Must have been in a soft bracket.
