Green Ronin to produce a new Song of Ice and Fire RPG

I noticed that three people, like me, have this game and have never played it. What if we did PBEM, I have never done that and don't really want to DM. But I would like to play this game. If you are interested maybe (and have maybe have DMed PBEM) we could move this to the gamers classified section. I can't do PM on this board.

I've come quite close a few times to joining an online game of this for the same reason, but I really don't think I have the time.

I love the GOO book. It's absolutely gorgeous, and the rules, from what I can tell by just reading it, seem fairly good. ASoIaF could use rules that aren't d20 to fit the setting and style better, though. I'll certainly be looking into it.

I just made a happy noise.

I like the GOO version.

But Green Ronin rarely if ever lets me down.

And I like it when games use new/unique mechanics. I love D20 and all, but its not the perfect system for all games, nor is it infallible.

Have the GoO Book too and love it, but can not play it as my Players love to wade waist deep though the dead. And that kind of play leads to dying PCs in Westeros.

But someday I will spring a campaign on them.

Part of me is disappointed that it won't be either a true 20 variant, or an adaptation of the GOO work (which I own and like very much) but in the end I don't care. I love the books, I have nothing but the highest regard for GR and the work they produce, and I know I'll be buying every book they put out . . . .

Maybe not a bad idea...my local group dissolved about 7 weeks ago, and I haven't played since. I've been busy and all, but I do miss it.

I've got the book, and would love to give it a try. I've never played PBEM though, so it would be a rather new experience.

I read some posts over at the GR boards....some things sound good....Pramas mentioned it will be full colour.

But by the sounds of it, it'll be either OGL, or a completely new system, and they're leaning towards a completely new system.

I suppose I can see a few reasons why they'd want to do that....maybe they feel that a new system would be a better match for the setting than D20 is. Also, they might be looking at all the movement in the industry, and WotC's behaviour over recent weeks/months, and want to divorce themselves from reliance on licenses that might not be there, or that might be invalidated following a coming edition change for D&D, etc.

I'm of mixed minds...I'm excited at the prospect, but really wish they'd at least use OGL. It's going to be *very* difficult to get players to change games...similar to the LotR game from Decipher. I had lots of players who would have been interested...but talk about learning a new ruleset, and the interest tanked...fast.

I consider the layout of 2E to be better then 1E though the artwork is not a good; and the Osseum Entertainment debacle was responsible for that. The artwork in the recent M&M books has generally been very good, IMO.

I thought it was because the guys behind the art (Super Unicorn or something) couldn't commit full time to the old M&M brand. I hold Crooks up as still one of the best looking books, heads and shoulders above say Instant Hero.
