Grim Hyborian Tales: Children of Ctaroc

Two of my kids were involved in a pretty serious accident. They weren't hurt at all, like the whole "Unbreakable" not a scratch kinda scenario. But, we got a nightmare call on Thursday night that our kids were in the hospital 250 miles away. Wasn't fun. All is good now, though, and we can make jokes about the "Wonder Twins" and fighting crime and stuff.

I am glad they are OK, I got a horribel pit in my stomach readin it and thinking of my kids. So take the time you need to we'll wait

Ongwi sinks the finely crafted handaxe into the glacier, and begins hacking out a good sized chunk of ice.

The shadowy forms in the icy mist resolve into familiar forms. At the head of the charging Vanir is Arnvahr, his beard streaming over his shoulder. They are few, five or six, but behind them rides Arnvid, as if driving these fierce men forward by his own will.

OOC: Ongwi will have to spend some time getting a chunk of ice big enough. Not sure what you're going for here, but lets say every round you can get a chunk that will do 1d4 points of damage if hurled down upon your enemies. For every round spent digging a bigger chunk, add +1 to the potential damage.

I don't have my map with me (or Photoshop at work, dammit). The zombies are about 60' away. Arturio and Mananga are at the top of the Vale, and the Vanir will have your back in about three rounds.

Have you given them the bench press test?

As soon as it is safe to do so, Mananga will turn and ready himself for battle, assuming the creatures are still coming.

OOC: Well arrows don't seem to hurt them, so I am trying anything I can. I figure that a big enough chuck can do some damage or even pin the zombie under the ice block. So lets cut for one round and throw and see what happens.

Ongwi chops at the ice, twisting his axe at every stroke to prevent it from binding. A regular seal eater I am becoming he thinks. I need to get out of this frozen wasteland before I DO become a seal eater. As the block slides free, he hefts it up and casts it down on to the shambling corpses in the vale.

Arturio

Finally overcoming the unmanly fear - and relieved that the figures emerging from the swirling snow are "friend" and not foe, Arturio hefts his huge blade and bellows a Poitainian war-cry.

"For Death or Glory!"

[OOC: He will ready an action to strike as soon as a zombie comes within range. Also, glad there weren't any injuries to your kids. That must have been a heart-stopping phone call. As a father, I definitely empathize!]

OOC: We'll assume a held action until they get into range.

Arnvahr and his men shamble up, heaving gouts of steam from their mouths.

"How's this for fun, eh Poitainian?" he bellows. "Surprised I could catch this lot and bring them back, for sliding in the yellow streaks they left!"

His warriors jostle and shout imprecations at their leader as they form up, each barely keeping the fear from their faces.

Arnvid flares his horse and brings it under control, eyeing the approaching dead.

"Their skin is like ice," he says through clenched teeth. "Turned my sword stroke like stone."

"I have heard of these creatures," Arnvahr said, sliding his axe onto his back. "My da's cudgel will see use today."

Each of the men look forlornly at their axes and swords, before sheathing them and pulling out a collection of maces, war balls, and clubs.

OOC: We'll fast forward to within striking distance (30' away). The zombies come in a line with about 8 feet between each zombie. You guys are formed up similarly, with Arturio and Mananga in the center -- if you want to wait for a map, I'll post it tonight. Here's the order:

Arturio
Ongwi - with his held action. He's about 20' to the south from the group and up on the side of the vale (about 15' up).
Arnvahr
Rest of the Vanir
Arnvid
Zombies
Mananga

Arturio

Arturio glances at the Vanir...clearly they knew something he didn't. He barks at Arnvahr.

"Glad to see you aren't part of yonder feast! Mace work, is it?"

Without waiting for a reply, he stabs his blade into the snow - keeping it within easy reach, and unslings his shield and mace, preparing for contact.

[OOC: Still ready action to strike when in range.]
