Guess What?! NC Game Day VIII is September 10th!

Sorry about the delay, here is the descriptions of the pregens (all but one of my current players has selected one)

Brother Dario Castinelle –(claimed) Born in Rome around the turn of the century, Dario was inspired by the works of art that filled the cathedrals and city streets. He discovered that he had quite a talent. Sadly an incident with a robbery in his father’s shop uncovered other, less natural, abilities. Thinking him possessed his father took him to the church, who recognized his abilities for what they were. He was taken in and taught to use his abilities to their fullest. He still draws on occasion but it’s just a hobby now. He acts as an investigator and trouble shooter for all manner of unusual phenomena.

Lord Arthur Whitecastle – (claimed) Architect, noble, and information broker, Arthur Whitecastle is many things to many people. What most don’t know is that he has abilities that have helped him replenish the family fortune that his father foolishly squandered and that his enemies tend to disappear without a trace. What they do see are the multitude of skyscrapers and public buildings with his name on them or in them.

Dr. Henry Miller- Award winning Archaeologist and scholar, Henry has had several major digs and is the master of a dozen languages no one speaks anymore. He has several Ph.D’s in archeology, anthropology, and linguistics. However he has taken to exploring many of the tombs himself, and finds himself possessing an incredible amount of luck. This has helped him survive many close calls.

Wu Lie Long (claimed)– He grew up on the streets of Hong Kong, watching as his family was marginalized by corrupt merchants, western influences, and drugs. It killed his family as surely as any bullet, and drove him to fight against it. He fought in the boxer’s rebellion, and the conflicts that followed. Once a light hearted lad, time and tragedy have turned him cold and serious. He is a master of the martial arts, and dangerous to all he meets as he tries to free his nation from tyranny of evil men.

Mark Summers – Growing up in Chicago is rough, even growing up as the only son of a cop was rougher. He grew up valuing honesty and commitment, so he grew up and entered the academy as soon as he could. When his father’s mysterious death, and his subsequent investigation get him stabbed and left to die in a deserted alley, luck finally shines down on him. The warehouse across the street is owned by a genius scientist and doctor name Byron. The doctor puts him back together, better than he was and with a new face as well. He takes his revenge and starts a one man battle to clean up Chicago.

Thomas Shane – A former soldier, he distinguished himself with a daring charge across a mine field into an enemy line. He slew his way through three trenches before they eventually stopped him. Recovering he found that he was stronger than he remembered and he was desperate to regain that feeling of being alive that he had experienced that day in France. He turned to exploration, and joined several expeditions to exotic locals.

I think the fact that most of the "out of towners" couldn't make it this time around is a big reason why the dinner is falling a bit flat this time out. You guys are the ones that roll into town in the early evening and get to choose between dinner with other ENWorlders vs. hanging out at your hotel room watching repeats of movies on HBO.

I'm not going to be upset if the dinner doesn't come together this time around. I'm just trying to get folks to let me know if they're interested so I don't scrub the whole thing only to find out that some were interested in attending.

Sorry that we could not make it. We're putting every dime into savings in advance of getting a house and Saturday is our splurge day for the month.

Remember the Darth Vader thing?

With a heavy heart, I have to announce that due to unforseen circumstances, I will be unable to attend NC Gameday 8, and the cancellation of my Spycraft game, and my withdrawal from the "ACME Inc. -- Lifesavers" game.

I apologize to those registered for my game, and to Clueless for not attending her game.

The good news is that there are lots of other games open for this morning event, and Rel has decided to run a "Misfit Superheroes" game, which sounds like a great game, from what he's told me! Check with Rel on details for this event.

Again, I deeply apologize, and it's killing me, especially since this is the first Gameday I'll miss since we started doing them back in 2003! :( However, I hope that everyone is safe and has a great time.

Take care all, and have a fun weekend.

-Henry

Attention!

I'm afraid I've got some bad news. I just got a call from Henry and he's had an unforeseen problem that is going to keep him from attending the Game Day this weekend. He may have posted about it here before I even get this post completed. Those of you in his Spycraft game may well have gotten an e-mail about it already. I want those of us who were scheduled to be in that morning game to have an alternative for something to do. So I propose one of two options (let me know if you can think of others):

1) Round Robin GM Game - Der Kluge has done this in the past and I'm sure I can cajole the rules he uses out of him before Saturday.

2) I've been kicking around an idea for a "Misfit Superheroes" game that I'd like to run and I'd be willing to give it a go. If you like this idea then the PC's are as follows...

Statue of Joseph Stalin Man - Crapped on by radioactive pigeons for years, this statue of Joseph Stalin came to life and can now switch between being a regular guy who looks just like (but has a personality very different from) Joseph Stalin and being a stone statue of Joseph Stalin who can't move at all.

Cornucopia - This rotund Greek woman carries with her the Horn of Plenty. She can instantly produce any food she wants from it, which is murder on her diet. But she stands ever ready to give evildoers a mouthful of yummy JUSTICE!

El-Fire-Bow - This young Cuban man was born with everburning elbows. He has real talent as a baseball pitcher ("He can bring the HEAT!") but was banned from the Major Leagues because his fiery elbows kept setting the uniforms on fire. He mainly sticks to sleeveless t-shirts now.

Fugu - This Japanese man was bitten by a radioactive pufferfish and now has amazing powers of puffing himself up to very large size. Fun at beach parties. Not so fun when trying to fight crime in an elevator or phone booth.

The Cobbler - Doctor Marten Birkenstock is a frustrated inventor who can never seem to sell any of his inventions. He's venting his frustration by fighting crime using his "Incredishoes" that are clownishly large but should be taken (somewhat) seriously.

Rapunzel - Her hair grows really fast, at will. Whether she's whipping you with it or tying you up with it, well, it's all pretty kinky.

Together they are The United Nations Super Heroes: Strikeforce Topeka! They Fight Crime! (kinda)

Obviously I need responses from those interested in either of these options ASAP.

Hey Clueless, does this mean you and Shem are joining Rel for dinner Friday night?

Not as of yet- looks like Shem isn't coming up till saturday (lord help him if he's late)
and looks like Toras won't be going to the dinner - so I'm left rideless.

And DARN IT all... yer not gonna be there :( And here I was prepping the final touches on your sheet... blaugh. I shall have to save the character for you for next time. (Yes. there shall be a next time too. ;))

As soon as I got the email, I jumped on the "Shrunken Adventurer" express just before it left the station. But if I hadn't, then the superhero game would have been my choice. Sounds like a lot of fun; (and with you I know it will be).
