Guns in D&D?

I'd look into Fantasy Flight's "Sorcery and steam". It's what I'm using...

Just remember that the Sorcery and Steam rules negate the use of armour. So you'd need to maybe use the Defense bonus variant from UA.

Privateer Press' rules for firearms in the Iron Kingdoms

I've used firearms and they work well. Make sure that your homebrew setting is the right fit for guns. Also if your setting still uses bows make sure that guns don't replace them (unless that concept fits your setting).

But hey homebrew away.

I've been thinking in the last few days that it would be cool to also have a feat that allowed you to add your Int bonus to firearm damage. It sort of seems like a natural (using intellect to know just how to aim, etc.) and I like the idea of the firearm being the weapon of the smart characters--sages, wizards, assassins, rogues good with disable device, etc. Actually I particularly like the idea of the pistol being commonly found in the hands of wizards (but not sorcerers) for some reason.

Accurate Shot
Prerequisites: Int 15, Precise Shot, Point Blank Shot
Useless Filler Text
By using the focus of your keen mind, you're able to pin point weak and vulnerable areas on a target and make every shot accurate!

When using a firearm the user is able to apply his Intelligence Bonus to all damage rolled.

Along that idea the Iron Kingdoms has a feat called precision shot which allows you to add your DEX modifier to damage. You have to have pointt blank shot and precise shot and a BAB requirement first.

But I like the INT bonus thing too.

I'd stick a few requirements first. Maybe point blank shot or something

I'd dump the Int requirement and add some kind of BAB requirement.

D20 Modern guns usually do 2d6 to 2d10 damage. I don't know if D20 Past even had rules for flintlocks.

Iron Kingdoms has rules for flintlocks too, but I don't have the game.

If going for the smart person using the guns, a bab is totaly inappropriate for such a feat but heck, throw it in there!

I would think this would be more of a Wisdom thing though. Marksmen tend to be really perceptive. But I agree, I see this more in the hands of intellectual types than anything else. Wizards and Artificers specifically. Though I see it as a nice trick for Rogues too.

Nope, see now we do the other space wasting thing and make the same feat but with a different effect!

With keen perception and precesion,, you're able to pin point weak and vulnerable areas on a target and make every shot accurate!

When using a firearm the user is able to apply his Wisdom Bonus to all damage rolled.
