Gygaxing people's names

I use a demi-Gygaxian method for things. My campaign is set in a pseudo-French area and I needed a new city name. Start with Marsailles (which I think I just misspelled), throw in a couple of letter shifts and get Dorailles.

Jack Vance "Vanced" my name several times, from the ordinary "Lird Gygax" to a "Gax" and than a "Xagyg" IIRR.
