Many years ago, a gamer friend and his daughter tried to make a snowman. We rarely get enough snow for a sizable one. They had more pine straw than snow. I dubbed it a straw golem.
We were told the papers would be available early. By 6:30pm early. That's about 4 hours earlier than normal. I got there at 7pm. Nearly 2 and half hours later they finally showed up. We don't get paid to wait. I was furious. For a company that disseminates information, they're absolutely gawd awful at internal communications.
I ran into something similar while on a temp job with Texas Instruments. Couldn’t work, couldn’t leave. They eventually let us go for the day, but it took FAR too long.
Yesterday I woke up to some banging noises in the livingroom. I opened the door to the "tail" end of my cat being chased by a sticky bug trap. Apparently, her tail got caught on the sticky pad, and she tried to run away. She jumped up on the table behind the TV leaving the trap with fur stuck to it on the floor.
It's my fault. I put the thing on the sofa near where she currently likes to nap. The light stopped working on it so I set it aside on the sofa. She must have been flicking her tail and it got stuck or something. Luckily she wasn't hurt.
I finally got to see “The Encounter” episode of The Twilight Zone with Neville Rand and George Takei. Until the Sci-Fi (SyFy) channel started doing their NYE Twilight Zone Marathons in 2016, it had been withheld from syndication, only airing in 1964. So I had never seen it.
Until I successfully recorded it during the 2024 marathon, and got to watch it tonight.
