Harry Potter & the Order of the Phoenix (film #5) - Rampant speculation and bashing!

Um, dude... thats the point. It FAILED at what it was trying to do, therefore its bad. (and in my opinion, one of the worst ever)

I don't know what it was trying to do, all I know is what it did. What it did was take a character, place him on the back burner and then kill him. Not impressive but not even close to what I would would call bad. For it to be bad it would need to be a main or secondary character and in the book his role was reduced below that.

I was reasonably happy with Sirius' departure in 'Order...' but Harry's tantrums are so annoying that they probably eclipse every other flaw in the book. :) I'll be sorry to see Sirius leave the film as Gary Oldman plays him absolutely beautifully and given how big his role in HP5 is, he's likely to completely outclass everyone else in the film. :) In any case I expect the film to eclipse the book because the book is, shall we say, not my favourite of the bunch... The final scenes are likely to be mindblowing.

FWIW I thought 'Goblet of Fire' was an absolutely terrific film, let down only by a lack of foreboding during the last ten minutes (certainly not the case with the book). I've examined what was removed and overall I don't have a problem, and would have to say that it is the best of the films so far. 'Prisoner' *should* have been the best film and had flashes of downright brilliance, but was let down by a few missed opportunities on the part of the director. It has certainly been the most stylish so far, but on balance, 'Goblet' is the better package.
