Hate for new look for Green Dragon

I like the picture, too. I do wish the dragon was bigger, though. I never did like how small 3e's dragons were. The green dragon in this picture is what I would consider a hatchling or very young dragon. It reminds me of the Elmore pic in the beginning of the 2nd ed's PHB, where the adventurers are standing around a dragon they just killed. The dragon was about the size of a crocodile. Ooh, way to go, big tough adventurers! Did you at least wait for the egg to hatch before you attacked??

Well... what I don't get is... why to change. One thing is to left some race, class, monster off the book. Ok, I can get it. But what is wrong with the look of the dragon? How does the monster improve with some cosmetics? I mean, I do not understand the reasoning behind this. Especially when one know, that there is serious work behind the dragons look in 3e.

It all simplifies down to personal taste, and that not everyone shares the same opinion of that taste. Then add in that humans like to debate/argue, and you have many (most?) of the threads we see on forums.

Meh ... to me the problem isn't the dragon design, it's WAR's style. It's irrelevant to 4E.
You think so? You know more about the tone of Fourth Edition than the people who are making it and hired Wayne Reynolds as pretty much the signature artist for the line, considering the covers of the core rulebooks will feature his work? Are you sure about that?

Or are you just mouthing off because you think they should go in all-new directions, despite the fact that they're seemingly using no-one but artists they've already worked with (William O'Connor's art is all over current rulebooks)?

Heh, I remember that.

From what I have read, I believe that the dragon there is supposed to be a Young green dragon, which are size Large in Fourth Edition.

To tell the truth, I dislike the idea that every dragon of a certain color looks exactly alike (except for size). I think there should be as much variety in dragons as there is in people.

I bet all humans look the same to dragons...

I liked the Lockwood dragons. Spikenose here suxxors.

For those making fun of the spike...

Look at the 3e Blue Dragon. Its almost exactly the same spike look, though maybe an inch farther back.

The current blue dragon looks like a horn, not a stiletto. Horns are cool, I don't mind the current blue at all.

Which was the point of that picture. That green dragon was alligator-sized, with a "hoard" that fit in a 1 cubic foot box. And the title of the picture was "Dragonslayers... and proud of it!".

That picture is teh awesomexxorz (or whatever kids type these days).

But ... I like everything in the picture except for the nose horn. I can't put my finger on exactly why. I don't care that it's not right for a green dragon or whatever, it just looks a little weird, like it's not supposed to be there.

That is my thought exactly. :)

It wouldn't make sense for some green dragons to have horns in certain places, while others don't. That never happens in a species.

As for some dragons being fatter/thinner, having slightly different shaped faces, etc., that'd be fine. But there shouldn't be any more variance within a species than what would be realistic for animals.

What about creatures of the Order Fireflippinbreathia? I understand they have certain features unlike those of other organisms. ;)
