Have you noticed something? Wizards is listening!

The problem is that they cost the same as the print version, and that they use DriveThruRPG.

I prefer real books to eBooks, and while I do buy PDF's, I buy those where the PDF is cheaper, as I print them out and ring-bind them.

Got a point there. I don't mind the DRM, but charging the same price for PDF as print and just pocketing the difference is pretty much :):):):):):):):).

These Locales books (Fane of the Drow and so on) will be minis-oriented.

We''ll see how much so. Ryan Dancey's comments were a bit vague, but encouraging.

I wish they hadn't turned the miniatures thing into a 'magic the gathering'/pokemon gotta catchem all collecters extravaganza. I just want miniatures to display my characters and the monsters in the campaign... if some are rare... that really screws things up.

It's really interesting to see people's reactions to "Wizards is Listening". Some people complain, others compliment. I always look over a book at least twice before I buy it, and I've been happy every time. *shrug*

Honestly, I've been pretty satisfied with Wizards' line of 3.5 products-- the few products I've been disappointed in, I have easily avoided purchasing.

There are a few things I'm rather desperately hoping for-- a Races[/b] book for evil humanoids, a Races book for the XPH races, more Star*Drive support, and Past/Modern/Future minis-- but I've been enjoying their production schedule.

I just can't afford nearly as much of it as I want.

D20 Past was a complete dog on many levels - memo to WotC: hire writers who actually know the rules, m'kay?
I actually like d20 Past and hope there will be more volumes in the near future at affordable $20 price, m'kay? *snaps*

Weapons Locker was medicore at best, but Menace Manual rawked on toast and d20 Future, while not appealing to some, is probably the most tool box-oriented book to appear from WotC since...ever?
Well, at least you have two printed gun products on the market: Ultramodern Firearms d20 (by d20 Modern co-designer Charles Ryan) and Weapons Locker (originally meant to be published by a third party, WotC published it instead ... with OGL attached).

And as you say, d20 Future is not appealing to some. It's a case of covering way too many elements with less depth of information. Hopefully, future volumes like the upcoming d20 Apocalypse and d20 Cyberscape would give us more detail than what d20 Future tried to cover initially.

I've enjoyed Wizards' products more and more ever since 3.5 came out. There was a little lull right after its release, but things have really turned around since then! If any WotC folks are reading, keep up the great work! :)
I've had a completely different reaction when 3.5e debuted just three years after 3.0e. Where I was once enthusiastic, I am now jaded and wary of what WotC put out. It got to the point that I am certain that 4e will debut in 2006, to be followed by 5e in 2008, and 6e in 2009.

Now my argument that pen-n-paper RPG has more entertainment value than a typical videogame is null and void.

Outside of D&D...

1. I have not seen any Star Wars RPG-only product since last summer. Though recently, the web site have been slowly updating with new material. Nice touch on presenting Jedi Watchman & Dark Side Assassin prestige classes (from KOTOR 2).

The "Living Force" campaign is also pretty much on hiatus for release of adventures. I've got the feeling that a significant problem is the licensing through Lucasfilm: the books and adventures aren't getting reviewed by Lucasfilm fast enough.

The lack of SW RPG sales also wouldn't help the line.

Cheers!

I've not known too many who play the SW RPG other than a few. I know of more who play D&D... There's some friends of mine who haven't played in awhile and wanting to start up and another friend anxious to get into a game.... but beyond that- nada.
