"Do you still have that detection magic working, Shoot? is there anything magical in here?"
"Uh, sure", Shoot explained as he shuffled from the hallway back into the laboratory. He'd been mesmerized by the auras that the wand and potions had given off. Magic auras were pretty!

If his friend was right, there might be some more auras in the lab. He'd have to go see!

Shoot and Anvuss examine the area of the table that the map indicates. The only thing they discover, however, is that it is an area on the side where the Professor worked, not Loris. Professor Reeger points out that the location they are studying is where he kept the translation documents that are now securely locked in his desk drawer in his office.

Meanwhile, Raven secures the prisoners, and then Seat rouses the red robed cultist with his spell.

The cultist groans, and then opens his eys. Once he focuses on the group, his look turns to one of anger and he struggles against his bonds. "Your minds and bodies are forfeit to Bryllys! Your souls are condemned to He that resides below!"

Professor Reeger pales a bit, and then nods to Raven. "I will be next door if you need me. Here are the keys to my office and desk." He quickly scurries out the door and shuts it behind him.

[sblock=drothgery]What is Tali doing? Oh, and don't worry, I don't think you bogged anything down. I think this particular combat ran a little long because it took place in a doorway, which always slows things down (but is a safe way to do it :)).[/sblock]

"Interesting. It demonstrates either little understanding of its current situation or else a significant detatchment from reality. This appears to supplement my earlier proposition that Khyber cultists are frequently deranged. Is it worth questioning, or is the taint of insanity too likely to make any information it provides untrustworthy?"

"Nah. He's sane enough to use spells and long term planning, certainly he's aware of the situation. He's merely showing a facade of bravado, both with the purpose of demoralizing us and strenghtening his own resolve, as I think he believes we pretend to extract information from him with the threat, or actual use, of physical harm." says Seat. He takes the flyer and shows the cultist the side with the beer tankard. "Where's this place?"

[sblock]Despite being Kalashtar and naturally good at that kind of thing, Tali's really not very skilled at interrogation or crime scene investiagation. And he's only got one knowledge skill of any value here. So he's not doing much.[/sblock]

Tali declines to dismiss his mindblade, standing guard while the others ask questions and search what's left after the battle.

He tries to regain his psionic focus, as well (take 20).

Raven steps forward to speak to the cultist. "You got it. We want to speak to this Bryllys. Can you take us to him? Otherwise, how will our bodies be forfeit?"

Anvuss listens with interest. He hadn't actually considered that this Bryllys might be a real person rather than some sort of religous figure related to the cult.

ooc: Here's hoping that if Bryllys is a mindflayer, this guy can't actually put us in touch with him anytime soon! Khyber, tentacles, minds being forfeit... anyone up for being a light snack?

Tali regains his focus with little difficulty.

At Seat's words and his question, the cultist sneers. "It is in Sharn." He seems about to spout more of his rhetoric when Raven's question catches him off guard, and the haughty, angry look on his face turns to one of confusion. He recovers quickly, and with narrowed eyes says, "If you wish to serve, Bryllys will reward your obedience. I can take you there ... it is just off Wicker Street, it isn't far."

You all get the impression that he isn't being entirely truthful.

OOC: Mind Flayer, eh? Guess we'll see. ;)

"Excellent! Let us go and meet this Bryllys then."

Anvuss is very pleased with Raven's cleverness. He will try to remember that asking politely for what you want is sometimes effective, even with deranged Khyber cultists. Who would have guessed?
