Head of the class (stonegod judging)[Concluded]

Raven curses. She's managed to attract entirely too much attention, and has nowhere to put her back. She plans on extricating herself as soon as possible.

OOC: Fort save: 20+4=24. You go girl! FWIW, Raven doesn't have combat reflexes, so she only gets one AoO per round. I'll assume she'll take her swing at the black veiled woman's body, as that seems to be the first and most obvious thing to provoke her. Attack roll: 4+2=6. OK. No action points there, either.

Seat chants out the words of power for his spell, and his companions feel bolstered by the effect. He climbs out of the hole and positions himself in the south corner of the room between two crates (C12).

Skeleton #1 turns on Tali, and attempts to rend the living flesh from his bones. It connects with one claw, tearing a gash along Tali's shield arm (5 points of damage).

The black veiled woman continues to assault Raven, but it's claws fail to connect.

OOC: Raven is up next, provided she passed her Fort save.

OOC: Saving throw passed, above.

IC: Raven, sensing Tali behind her, is no longer as worried about being flanked. She'd like to move North, but doesn't want to get under that Portcullis. She suspects the half-orc is about to shut it. Instead she focuses on the strange woman. She stabs out at the skelleton, but cuts her stab short, then swings her blade back towards the woman's belly.

OOC: Raven will use her improved feint feat to try to catch the woman flat-footed. She can do this as a move action. For Raven, it is a bluff check. Her mod is +5. She then tries to attack with her longsword. Again, she'll use her combat expertise to improve her AC by 1 at the expense of her attack. So her attack is +2 1d8+2. Rolls. (oops - I forget to add the bonuses for the bless spell! So her attack roll would be 16 instead of 15. Raven's AC remains 18. For her defense, the 'woman' rolls her sense motive check, and adds her BAB. If this exceeds Raven's bluff check, the feint is unsuccessful. If the feint succeeds, the 'woman' loses her Dex bonus and is subject to sneak attack dmg. I don't think I'll use any action points here. Hard to say if I'd need them.

(OOC: Everyone (including Fang) except Anvuss and Shoot need to make a DC 12 Fortitude save or be paralyzed for 2d4 rounds (or until you are attacked by the creature that paralyzed you).)
Fang shook as if shaking off a heavy blow, then howled in response to the ghastly woman's shriek. He continued to attack the skeleton unabated.

Shoot continued to work his magic, summoning a second wolf.[sblock=OoC: ]Fang's Fort save is d20+5=15, so he's good. Did Shoot get off his summon in Round one? There a summoned wolf in the map legend, but no summoned wolf on the map. If Shoot did summon a wolf in round 1, then it would be at E10.

If Shoot didn't summon a wolf in Round 1, he will do so in round 2. However, the summoning location would change to G11, flanking and attacking Skeleton 2.

If Shoot did summon a wolf in round 1, he will summon a second wolf in round 2 (dropping Magic Fang in order to do so). If the first summoned wolf is in E10, the second will be in G11, likewise flanking and attacking Skeleton 2.[/sblock]

[sblock=OoC]Yes, but remember that the spell is a 1 round casting time, so it is completed just before Shoot's action in Round 2, feel free to post where you want the wolf to appear (if you want it to appear in G11, instead of E10).[/sblock]

Combat, Round 2 Cont.

Raven feints, surprised to see that the "woman" doesn't react at all to it, and then strikes at the black veiled woman's belly, tearing the dress in that area to ribbons and revealing at least some of the true nature of the creature. Raven is now easily able to tell that what she is fighting is a skeleton (from the neck down) cleverly disguised with cloth bundles stuffed in places to make it appear as though the skeleton were a woman under the heavy black dress. Raven's strike neatly clips through a rib bone, severing it. The skeleton rocks back unsteadily on it's feet, and it's head finally tumbles backwards from it's body to land in G5. The veils covering it are torn off, and everyone can see what looks like a hideous, distorted human head, it's mouth spread wide in a vicious snarl filled with needle-like teeth. In place of hair, it is crowned with writhing tendrils, and its eyes burn with a menacing green flame. It also has what look like bat wings in place of it's ears. Atop the skeleton's shoulders, Raven can see a small wooden platform with numerous holes in it, attached to the skeleton's shoulders and ribcage, where the head used to sit.

[sblock=Knowledge(The Planes) DC 11 to identify the head]This creature is a vargouille, a vicious little creature capable of flight, a nasty bite, and a paralyzing shriek. Rumor has it that they reproduce through a kiss.[/sblock]

Skeleton #4 seems unfazed by the revelation that it's companion is headless, and continues to attack Raven, missing due to her dodging skills.

Skeleton #2 swings at Fang, and one of it's claws digs into his skin (4 points of damage).

Anvuss continues to have his efforts to smash Skeleton #1 thwarted by it's quick movements.

Tali decides enough is enough, and hammers Skeleton #1 with a blow from his mindblade. A flare of light erupts from the contact point, but the skeleton seems unfazed. At the very least, he certainly has it's sole attention. (OOC: And I thought I was the only person that InvisibleCastle didn't like. ;))

Shoot finishes weaving his spell and wolf appears near Fang and seizes Skeleton #2 in it's jaws, causing minor damage (2 points), and failing to pull it to the ground. (OOC: El Jefe, which square do you want it in, and which skeleton did you want it to attack?)

OOC: Shoot and Fang are up next, please let me know where you want the first summoned wolf, and if you want Fang to continue to attack Skeleton #2.

wolf appears near Fang and seizes a skeleton in it's jaws, causing no damage

ooc: if you admit the nitpick, bite attacks do deal piercing, slashing and bludgeoning attack, so damage reduction shouldn't apply. And what better than a large dog to pick bones.

OOC: I was under the impression that natural attacks only did piercing damage. But I wind up being wrong almost every day. Could you point me to the appropriate rules reference for this? If so, that would certainly be useful to you in this fight. :)

Could you point me to the appropriate rules reference for this?

Sure. From the SRD, under natural weapons:

Natural weapons have types just as other weapons do. The most common are summarized below.

Bite
The creature attacks with its mouth, dealing piercing, slashing, and bludgeoning damage.

Claw or Talon
The creature rips with a sharp appendage, dealing piercing and slashing damage.

Gore
The creature spears the opponent with an antler, horn, or similar appendage, dealing piercing damage.

Slap or Slam
The creature batters opponents with an appendage, dealing bludgeoning damage.

Sting
The creature stabs with a stinger, dealing piercing damage. Sting attacks usually deal damage from poison in addition to hit point damage.

Tentacle
The creature flails at opponents with a powerful tentacle, dealing bludgeoning (and sometimes slashing) damage.
