Healer Smackdown

Sorry for the cheap subject plug, but as far as I know, it hasn't been done... :D

I'm trying to build a CL 10, non-melee, unarmored or lightly armored, mystic/prophet/holy man type character. Mainly, the pacifist preaching and healing type, but that has some effectiveness against undead and evil outsiders.

Are there any feats, templates, variant classes or prestige classes that would maximize healing or anti-undead/outsider capabilities?

There are a few interesting classes in the Netbook of Classes. I've put a build below with some of them. The Anchorite is basically a Divine sorcerer with access to the Cleric and Druid spell lists, kind of a cool RP concept for the holy man/mystic tack. The ability scores are rolled, and our DM allows placing them where you want, and move 3 points around (hence the high Wis). The original rolls were 13, 12, 12, 14, 17, 16.

Here it is:

Male Human Anchorite5 Ascetic3 Healing Hand2 CR 10; Size: M Type HUMANOID; HD (5d6)+(3d4)+(2d4)+10; hp 38; Init +1 (+1 Dex, +0 Misc); Spd Walk 30'; AC 11 (flatfooted 10, touch 11), BAB +5; SA: Attuned to Harsh Weather +2 (Ex), Empowered Healing +2 (Su), Great Heal (Ex), Mystic Wisdom Level 2, Power of Meditation, Sanctuary (Su) DC21, Turn Undead 10/day (Level 6); Vision: Normal AL: NG; Sv: Fort +9, Ref +3, Will +16; Str 10, Dex 12, Con 12, Int 14, Wis 22, Cha 16

Skills and Feats: Concentration +14, Craft (Brewing) +9, Diplomacy +10, Heal +21, Knowledge (Religion) +15, Spellcraft +14, Spot +9, Wilderness Lore +19; Brew Potion, Divine Vigor, Extend Spell, Extra Turning (1x), Reach Spell, Skill Focus (Heal)

Innate: Lesser Restoration 1/day, Deathwatch (at will)

Spells (6/8/8/7/6/4) - Known:
Level 0: Create Water, Cure Minor Wounds, Detect Magic, Fire Eyes, Guidance, Know Direction, Light, Purify Food and Drink, Read Magic
Level 1: Cure Light Wounds, Entangle, Goodberry, Invisibility to Undead, Regenerate Light Wounds
Level 2: Consecrate, Cure Moderate Wounds, Master Air, Regenerate Moderate Wounds
Level 3: Cure Serious Wounds, Regenerate Ring, Searing Light
Level 4: Cure Critical Wounds, Dismissal
Level 5: Regenerate Critical Wounds

The Extend Spell metamagic feat would be used mostly for the regeneration spells to maximize healing. Reach Spell is useful not only for healing at a distance, but also for targetting undead.

Any comments appreciated.

You may want to take a look at the Faith Caster from Path of Faith. Basically its a spontaneously casting cleric that looses alot of armor abilities and the like.

Hong Ooi's site has a priest class that may be what you're looking for. I forget the URL but it's the first hit on Google if you use the search terms "Dungeons Dragons Silliness" (without the quotes).

Is this book by Legends and Lairs?

Yeah, I like hong's tack of a "non-adventuring" priest. The bonus feats really help with customizing.

Here's what it looks like (I've used a gnome for fun):

Male Gnome Priest5 Ascetic5 CR 10; Size: S Type HUMANOID; HD (5d6)+(5d4)+30; hp 65; Init +1 (+1 Dex, +0 Misc); Spd Walk 20'; AC 12 (flatfooted 11, touch 12) ; BAB +4; SA: +1 to hit kobolds/goblinoids, +4 dodge vs giants, Divine Favor +3, Divine Health, Mystic Wisdom Level 4, Sanctuary (Su) DC21, save +2 vs illusions, Speak with Burrowing Animals 1/day, Spontaneous casting, Turn Undead 10/day; Vision: Low-light, Normal AL: NG; Sv: Fort +8, Ref +6, Will +17; Str 8, Dex 12, Con 16, Int 12, Wis 22, Cha 16

Skills and Feats: Concentration +16, Diplomacy +8, Heal +19, Hide +5, Knowledge (Arcana) +11, Knowledge (Religion) +8, Listen +8, Scry +11, Spellcraft +11; Chain Spell, Divine Vigor, Empower Spell, Extend Spell, Extra Turning (1x), Persistent Spell, Reach Spell, Spell Focus (Conjuration)

Domains: Healing (You cast healing spells at +1 caster level.) Sun (Once per day you can perform a greater turning against undead in place of a regular turning (or rebuking). Undead creatures that are affected are destroyed.)

Innate: Dancing Lights, Ghost Sound, Prestidigitation, Speak with Animals

Spells (6/6+1/6+1/4+1/4+1/3+1) - Known: Cleric List 0th - 5th.

Yes, its from the Legends & Lairs series by Fantasy Flight Games. You can also get the class from the Mastercraft Anthology, a preview book of their materials that's only $4.95 (that's how I know of it actually).

If you can use PrCs from Dragon magazine, there is one from last March (-ish ?) that has a PrC for "Shining Servant of Pelor" or some such thing.... the concept of the class is to be most effective with healing and combating undead since those are the main tenants of Pelor.

It isn't very powerful when compared to some PrCs out there, but it has some nifty abilities that make you say "neat-o" :)

Like you said to dcollins earlier, you got a macro for that? :D

BTW, this thread is inspired by the book-thumping cleric discussion we were having elsewhere. Gave me the desire to play one again. :)

Any ideas, since you're an Epic Rule Lawyer?

"I break his sword... with my Eagle Claw Attack!"

It's an incorporeal sword. And keep those Filchers away. :D

I don't have a lot of familiarity with any non-WotC material... basically just Core and classbooks.

I'm not a huge proponent of PrCs, either... as a general rule (although I've been known to make exceptions) I prefer to build characters using core classes.

Consequently, I'm not really the best person to come to for advice on specialised PrC builds... sorry.

I'd recommend a cleric with the Healing domain, and something that allows you to turn evil outsiders. I've seen a custom PrC with a "Turn Fiend" ability, and a custom domain that grants turning of evil outsiders like a Fire domain cleric turns water creatures, etc...

I'm going to have to mention that on the site somewhere.
