Healing Ability Damage in NWN

Holy Bovine

First Post
How the heck do you do it??!!?

I have had ability damage from poison, spells, traps etc and each time I have to reload my last saved game because nothing I try seems to get rid of it.

I don't have a cleric as my henchman and the 'temple services' only seems to allow you to buy scrolls for your cleric to use

What am I missing here?

And I have already read the manual (haven't done that in a while :D ) and it doesn't even mention ability damage. (unless it is cleverly disguised as something else).

EDIT OK now I have it - temple services wasn't what i wanted - just got Abielrth to 'cure my wounds' and she got rid of everything. I'll use that from now on!

Have you tried asking the cleric at the temple for healing? He casts greater restoration, which should get rid of ability damage.

Edit: Just in addition, this cleric is typically different from the merchant cleric. For example in the second episode it is the cleric worshiping at the alter.

I usually just rest. That seems to take care of most ability damage I've seen, at least in the SP campaign.

Very true, though resting will not get rid of negative levels and some other effects.

Which temple are you referring to? I have asked Albierth the Paladin to 'cure me' and she also has scrolls for sale but I can't cast those.

Resting doesn't seem to do it for me - I rested repeatedly (3 times) after being poisoned (and the poison had 'worn off' ie - the poison icon was gone but the ability damge icon remained) by a spider and I never gained back any of the STR I had lost. I will try it again though.

You can also purchase some potions of restoration, these will take care of most 'bad conditions' as well.

Bye
Thanee
