Healing Belt underpriced?

Healing belts are reasonably priced. You may want to add a restriction to them that they have to be worn for at least 24 hours before they can be used.

I've applied that restriction to all MIC items to avoid blatant abuse.

I've not encountered problems by not requiring it such a waiting period. What kind of abuse were you thinking of?

The healing belt is slightly underpriced based on it's own internal numbers.

Cost to Create: 500gp should = 1000 gp.

Or the cost to create is wrong. Given that everywhere else the Healing Belt appears (i.e. in the tables in the back) it is listed as 750gp, it is more likely that the intended price was indeed 750gp.

It allows 2 abuses.

1. Buy multiple Healing Belts and swap them during the day as you use up the charges on each belt. This avoids the limitation of only 3 charges per day.

2. Put the Healing Belt on out of combat to heal up, then put it in your backpack again and put your other magical belt on. This avoids the limitation of the Healing Belt taking up one of your magic item slots. It almost makes a Healing Belt 3 Potions of Cure Moderate Wounds that refill themselves at the start of each day.

It seems likely that at some point in development the healing belt cost 1000. Then they decided to change the price to 750gp, but forgot to change the crafting price to 375gp.

I still agree that it was an intentional decision.

I'm not sure if that's abusive in light of comparably costed Wands of Cure Light or Lesser Vigor.

Except that the Belts recharge, the wands don't. Also I don't think that using a Belt causes an AoO. You would have to use the Belts quite a few times to get your money's worth though.

I don't see a problem with this belt's price at all. It is a straight D8 roll. And the max healing you can obtain from it in a day is 6D8. At low levels that is not bad. You get anywhere above lvl 8 or so and it is almost completely pointless

Heh. I just recall that when MIC came out it was dissected in detail and the conclusion was that they deliberately did that because they wanted to reward people for healing others.
