Heart of Artifice: Part I--Engineered Enigma

(OOC: Interesting. And Anvuss doesn't have to worry about a Dex bonus loss for grappling either, since his is a penalty)

*The guard is carrying an air blade and a tasering crossbow, but no potions or the like. He seems to be bleeding to death.*

"Hmm, a canny move, but continue firing--the shocks can't make Louis any worse off than he is right now."

*The two guards both fire, backing up again. A stroke of luck in missing their ally combined with Anvuss's awkward movements allow them both to hit him, though one only barely.*

(OOC: Anvuss takes 6 Damage from both combined, total is 10 damage now. Wow, one of them rolled a modified 9 and still hit on the touch attack  )

ooc: 4 damage and 6 nonlethal, right? Yeah, my touch AC is lousy, that's why I was hoping to psych them out and take advantage of a 50% miss chance.

Is Kharas in between Anvuss and the active enemies? What are the distances to each?

(OOC: All 10 is nonlethal. Kharas is 90 feet from Anvuss. The enemies are 145 and 150 feet. That's rather far--even if he sprints, which is less of an issue for him due to lack of a Dex bonus, he only moves 80, so if they move again, two rounds of sprinting won't make it to them. Of note, though, they are on the steps now)

(OOC: Hmm...concealment isn't really available. However, there is cover from any of the pillars, but it is not full cover. Still, 13 AC is much better than 9)

Anvuss will scoop up his morningstar and move to cover, dropping prone when he gets there. (Touch AC of 17, 50% chance ranged attacks will hit Louis instead of me.)

(OOC: I don't think you can do those both in one round while grappling. However, I also don't think you needed to drop the morningstar in the first place, so we'll call it even and say he didn't ;))

*Anvuss moves behind a pillar and drops prone. From certain angles, he has total cover now, though of course his foes move such that he only gains partial cover from the pillar. Of the two shots, one strikes the pillar harmlessly, and the other barely hits but strikes Louis.*

(OOC: Anvuss's turn again)

(OOC: I concur)

*After Anvuss drops Louis and just barely fails to activate the scroll, the leader shouts again:*

"It's trying to heal itself again. Kappa Stratagem, and be on your guard!"

*Neither of them fires.*

(OOC: Anvuss's turn again)
