Heavy MasterWork Mercurial Swords oh my!

Can you do this
Mercurial Great Sword: 2d6 Crit 20 X4
master work: +1 to hit
heavy: increase 2d6 to 2d8?
Wicked ( house rule found in the house rules forum) +1 to damage?

or do you think any mercurial sword must be masterwork to function properly and the HEAVY factor would be mitigated by the mercurial attribute?
we have a non magical sword doing 2d8+1 damage with no magical bonuses and no feats added in.

i cant find any rules that clarify this question but maybe its just illogical or abosultely mentally retarded to do any of this stuff to a weapon that already costs so much.
Cleave and improved cleave would rule though.

a keen improved critical would be 18-20 X4
focus and specialization would boost it to
+2 to hit
2d8+3 to damage

of course it costs as much as many magical items and is probably a waste but who cares if you are ina low magic campaign ( which may limit the availability of mecurial and heavy weapons anyhow).

one balance might be the fact that you can have a masterwork bow that takes advantage of your STR coupled with masterwork arrows according to the rules.

I would suppose that you can, although the market for an unusual weapon that requires a minimum of two feats to wield properly would be horribly small. (Then again, most of the double-headed exotics take three. And by comparison, they 'majorly suck,' to use the vernacular.)

I.e. your character might well have to craft it and enchant it him/herself, pending DM approval.

But if that's the way you want to go, why not?

Where are the rules of "heavy Mercurial Greatswords" I never heard of such a thing. I realize that a large creature can supersize a weapon as per the largify weapon rules, but is there a formal rule for how to let a medium sized character use such a monstrosity?

The only one I know of is polymorph spells and Divine Power (or something) This is just getting large, but it is relatively cheep and effective.

Is there another way?

In the Magic of Faerûn book it lists alternative materials to make your weapon out of. You can make a weapon using either gold or platnum to increase the dice size but you would need a exotic weapon feat for a heavy version of the weapon.

Anyone else think they could have found better examples of heavy metals to use than gold and platinum? Isn't gold more likely to bend than cut?

My character uses one. Check out this thread for more info. Mine is actually house-ruled heavy adamantine, as opposed to the more traditional magically-hardened gold or platinum, but it follows the same rules except for adamantine's improved hardness and hit points.

Better: A Heavy Mercurial Great Scimitar. 2d8 19-20 x4.

Now cast Righteous Might to increase to Large size, and scale up your weapon. d8 goes to 2d6 according to the chart, so your huge heavy mercurial great scimitar does 4d6 19-20 x4.

A mercurial scimitar? Right. The scimitars blade has plenty of room to store mercury in... (yes, I know you are pulling my leg, but iI had to bite)

Holy smokes. Gold is half-again heavier than mercury? My father used to have a jar of mercury that was about 12 ounces and I swear the thing weighed 20 lbs. I can't imagine what holding a brick of gold bullion would feel like.
