Help me beat my DM :)

Hail all,

I've got this bet with my DM that I can build a character of 18th level that will wipe out any dragon he throws at me (no Gods, or weird dragons, just the ones in the MM).

What I'm thinking of so far is either a sorcerer or a wizard with:
-Spell Penetration, Greater Spell Penetration
-SR thru some item, or PrC
-Ring of Spell Turning (handy dandy)
-Permanent True Seeing (for pesky invis dragons)
-Gate, Gate and Gate some more (thinking Solars here)
-Time Stop (then see Gate)

Now I need some ideas on how to proceed from here, what spells would be good against dragons, and no I don't know which type. What items are a must-have, etc. Strategies, tactics, you name it. Help me defeat my DM

Greater Spell Penetration too

Cleric. Ranged Harm. Quickened Inflict.

Energy Substitution

Unless you know the type of dragon you are going to fight, get the Energy Substitution (Sonic) feat from Tome and Blood. Few monsters are resistant to sonic damage, and no dragons in the MM. Imprisonment is a nice last choice if you manage to pull it off and get past the dragon's SR. No save allowed.

Pick one of these tactics and add two levels:

Watch out for that breath weapon! Have some sort of resistance against it or you're toast (literally, if it's fire breath).

Depending on how he builds the Dragon he can lay a major smackdown on you as well without resorting to too unusual of tactics.

I personally would like to see a Gold Great Wyrm armed with a rod of greater quickening from T&B.

Excluding the potential of gating in Solars there is absolutely no reason why a well played Great Wyrm wouldn't wipe you out in a round or two.

Two questions:

If your DM is only allowed to use the MM, then are you only allowed to use the PHB?

Any Dragon? You do realise that Dragons have easily enough Intelligence to pick up character levels? This is not taking into account any MM Templates...

My money is on the Dragon

Something to improve your chances against its SR (38 for a Red GW) would really help. Greater Spell Penetration, of course, but is there anything else that can add to a SR check?

Archmage PrC from the Forgotten Realms, and the Red Wizard PrC from same. Stack them up and be very scared...
