Help me pick my feat progression. Weird feats please!

I am currently playing a 4th level Human fighter in the Scarred Lands setting. The game is happening right now in Hallofaust (city of necromancers) and the characters don't seem like they are heading somewhere.

I have just been informed by my DM that he is not going to allow Riposte (from the fighter Scarred Lands class book, I agree it is broken, btw) for my character, so I am kind of undecided about what I am intending to do.

The character was rolled, and so has lucky stats, 18 Str, 15 Dex, 16 Con, 13 Int, 13 Wis 14 Cha. I have already chosen ExWP Bastard Sword (Free as a regional bonus feet) WF BasSw, PA, Expertise, Dodge, Cleave and GC as my feats. My thoughts were to head for Riposte and whirlwhind attack to make an abberration of sorts The heavy hitting Light fighter.

As a side note, he uses light armor, and his BS two handed as a flavor thing, since everybody from his region uses the Bastard sword anyway.

So, I want an unusual direction for my character, I am planning on staying straight fighter, but any PrC's that might be appropriate will be looked into. Mostly I am curious what people will do with the rest of the progression. Right now, I am leaning towards Spring Attack and Whirlwind Attack, but I am wondering if other feats may be cooler (or at least unique) for my character, who is a weird hybrid, imo.

Weapon Specialization: Bastard Sword
Greater Weapon Focus: Bastard Sword
Greater Weapon Specialization: Bastard Sword

not flashy, but you get better at killing things.

Leadership, Skill Focus (Diplomacy or Intimdiate) (a fighter with a good charisma is always a rare sight, use it :-) )

Power Attack, Sunder or, Combat Expertise, Improved Disarm, Improved Trip.
(Sunder, Disarm and Trips are flashy maneuvers, in some way - you can imagine the action better than the effect of Weapon Focus...)

I'd get a second weapon path for versatility. Polearms would be easy (you got the spring attack chain nearly and only need Combat Reflexes), archery is well advised for everyone... though you don't really need the feats to be good at shooting things.

That is an interesting idea, I think I may consider leadership in a few levels.

The Improved Trip thing seems possible as well, combined with Spring Attack. I am looking into the Complete Warrior Tactical feat Elusive Target, which (among other things) makes you a very dangerous target to try and take an attack of opportunity on...

But aside from Leadership, nobody yet has come up with a feat I haven't considered... ;)

Karmic Strike from Complete Warrior

Will Karmic Strike work if you get hit on an AoO? And could you then immediately use a trip from improved trip and then get your other attack? And what about Elusive target.

I guess with a character with both Karmic Strike and Elusive Target, opponents are damned if they do or damned if they don't. I like it.... Those may be my next feats, along with Mobility and Spring Attack.
