Erm... yes, ...keeper. :)

That's some crazy good rolls for just 7 times 4d6DL (yours too).

Yeah...she used real dice, I used the dice rolling application available online in the Online Gaming Toolbox. My "bad" roll was something like a 6 total...when it went bad it went really bad.

Well, if you want her to play a more hack&slashy character (AND she wants that too!!), 18 Str barbarian/fighter with a big two-handed weapon and Power Attack and Extra Rage is probably a good choice.

But if that's not, what she wants to play, then let her decide for herself.

Well, she has always played an elf wizard and wondered what it would be like to play a fighter type. She set one up once and then wandered back over to multiclass to wizard again...almost like a magnet.

She is mulling around a Barbarian/Fighter combo now...once again, we are trying to break our old habits and play against type (otherwise I would be, once again, an ugly grouchy dwarven fighter...AGAIN).

But they weren't rolled in that order, or were they? ;)

They were. That guy must have practised to roll the dice for month, but he could pretty reliably roll his d20s up to four times for a natural 20.

He rolled his dice in a special way... so I knew he was cheating. But he never said much during gametime and enjoyed to be there... and the others relied on him to roll the 20 when they needed one... so I didn't bother.

Hehe.

Well, maybe if she wants to move on in a less radical fashion, a fighter/wizard/eldritch knight or fighter/sorcerer/eldritch knight, or one of the numerous other prestige classes that combine skills at arms and sorcery (i.e. the Hexblade or Spellsword). Focusing spells on personal buffs and some utility mostly, so attacks are more mundane than magical in nature.

Where is the Eldrich Knight class found?

The Eldritch Knight is in the DMG (or the SRD).

I suggest looking over the 3.5e SRD. There is a sticky post with links to it at the top of the D&D Rules board.

In 3.5 the d8 HD for the Ranger (and the aforementioned tweaks to dual-wielding) really downgrades the dual-wielding style option. Consider the archery path and have decent melee backup. With stats like that you can end up with a decent Con. If you picked Wild Elf, maybe something like:

Str: 16+2=18
Int: 15-2=13
Wis:16
Dex: 16+2= 18
Con: 18-2=16
Cha: 13-2=11

Putting the 18 in Con will mean more than the loss of the 20 Dex if this character is going to be melee. If they go with ranges, switch them.

I might switch Int for Cha since I'd rather play dumb than mean, but that's up to the player. With this build I'd either go longspear (Combat Reflexes) or sword and buckler (Forester is my new favorite feat, but even a basic Improved Initiative would work). Your hps are okay, but still not great so you need to get your AC high and/or keep your opponents out of reach.

Thanks. I had forgotten that the SRD would have that prestige class in it. I don't have any of the 3.5 rulebooks so I would pretty much be stuck with the SRD unless I can borrow a friends copy.
