Thanks
um so then which spells would you take?
Can you change your spells?
Swap fireball for lightning bolt. And if he's protected against fire and electricity, that will take up two spells.
Maybe consider dispel magic, if he's going to have a chance to buff himself before the fight.
Any chances of him having a brooch of shielding? If he negates all your offensive spells, you aren't going to be able to kill him.
I'm a big fan of alter self. A mage armoured, shielded troglodyte is too tough in the short term for a hundred dire bats.
Assuming you get at least some time to prepare, I'd also suggest casting false life a couple of times. It won't stack but you can take the best roll.
Its all moot if you can't survive a couple of flame strikes, however. (This assumes the druid has 18 wisdom instead of 18 charisma).
On the basis of the information available, the Reflex DC is 18 and you get +5 to reflex saves. The most likely scenario is you'll make one save and fail the other. Second most likely is you'll fail them both.
Scenario 1 is you take 24.5 damage from one and 12.25 from the second. Call it 37 hp. How many have you got? 4+(6x2.5)+21 = 40 hp. Of course, there's the false life on top.
Scenario 2 is you take 49 hp. Ouch.
Resist or protection from energy (fire) seems like a good idea.
