Help us plan an Atlanta gameday

The Gaming Pit is sounding pretty good. If we go with a Saturday, we could start as early as 11:00, with other games starting later. I'm not sure how this gets organized, with start times and such, but an 11-3 block, followed by a 4-8 p.m. block, still leaves time for long drives or a late dinner. There are hundreds of places to eat right around there.

I may be biased, as the location is about 15 minutes from my house. I used to work within walking distance of that Publix.

Joe - Can you scout out locations for us? We really need an onsite preview of what the Gaming Pit (that name still scares me) and the War Room offer. They should both be right nearby.

Ranger - What do you think about making flyers for other gaming stores and colleges? Maybe not the actual design and layout, but the, uh, necessary materials to spread around town? How feasible is that?

Diaglo - Break into the warehouse at WhiteWolf and grab whatever you feel is good gaming swag.

[sblock];) haha. Okay. Seriosly, what do you think about contacting Goodman Games for GM swag? GM Incentives go a long way to ensuring there are many well GM'd games. That and location are the two big hurdles to pulling off a good gameday. I can't think of anyone better than you to contact GG.[/sblock]

I may be able to stop by the Gaming Pit tomorrow. Have a busy day of home projects planned, but still might be able to work it in. I didn't think the War Room was that close. And I thought diaglo had confirmed it is too small.

I'm not too shabby at making flyers. I could come up with something, though not until next week. Bear in mind, though, that most college folks are on break now. Won't be back for another two weeks or so.

Once we lock down a place we can discuss dates. I'd like to have all the primaries so far able to go. Feb 10 is as early as I see it happening, so no problems there.

I'm in the Atlanta area (Smyrna specifically, but I get around) and wouldn't mind helping to promote it and attending. I don't know that I'm much help for anything else.

I was just in both the War Room and Gaming Pit recently, and both locations are clean, offer snacks and have game space. The Gaming Pit is closer to I-85 than the War Room, and it has a lot more gaming space.

As far as access to food is concerned, they both have good options. One of the things I'm not sure about is whether either one or both allows food to be brought in from outside. This was an issue when I ran RPGA game days back in Michigan, because you know we gamers have to have our favorite snacks. This is something that would need to be looked in to.

Just my $.02

Thanks Animus,

It's looking more and more like the Gaming Pit will be the location. The 10th has been bandied about, but I think it's too early to get flyers to stores and on campuses. Plans might already have been made by potential partiicipants too. GP's feb.17th slot is full, so the 24th looks like the next possibility.

Can everyone interested in attending please post their availability for Feb. 24th?
Specificy available times. Potential convention hours stretch from 11am - 1am

I would probably go with a couple of friends from my own gaming group. I'll float the idea to them. Either way, I work until 1pm on Saturdays, so I wouldn't be there until 2-2:30. I could run a game. In fact, I would like to run a game.
