The adventurers passed the morning uneventfully, perhaps helping around the camp a bit as the women and those not out working pack up. Shortly before highsun, the lumberjacks file back into camp. The midday meal is ready for them, and by the time they are done, another troop of workers have arrived for their rotation at the camp. Some of the departing workers jump onto rafts of logs shoved into the river and begin to ride the swift, cold water downstream toward Bredon. The rest, along with the adventurers, troop out the gate on the dirt road back to town.

The walk takes hours, but the day doesn’t get too hot, and breaks are as needed, the peoples strung along the road in small groups, the atmosphere upbeat. The sun is low by the time they return to Bredon.

The air in town has that minor festive feely the adventurers felt in Timberhand. In fact, tables have been set out in the town center, and residents are beginning to bring out food. An impromptu little band has formed, as well, and a few of the younger men and women are dancing, while the men are piling up scrap wood from the mill for a bonfire.

Standing court over the gathering festivities on the porch of the Sawtooth Inn is Reeve Omri Bine, tapping his cane impatiently on the floor, flanked by Prelate Edyna Tinroth of the Paladine church and Sister Taichi Lejoti of the Dawn Church. At the foot of the steps stands Sergeant Alene Belyr, the half-elf head of the town’s small contingent of the People’s Army. Other town guards lounge around the green, or mingle with the people. None appear all that vigilant, and the adventurers know there just aren’t that many actual professional soldiers belonging to the guard anyway.

Across the way, seated on the steps of the common hall, sat Sir Ghaves Ledet leaning on his cane, a little knot of citizenry around him, as well, a sort of informal anti-court to the coterie of citizens around the reeve. Bine glared at the older man, though Ledet didn’t seem to notice.

What the old man did notice, however, was the arrival of the adventurers, with his granddaughter. With a little shout of glee that belied his former nobility, the old man pushed himself up with surprising spryness and hustled over to meet Irene, who ran up and hugged her grandfather tightly.

“Oh, thank you! Thank you!” Sir Ledet said, tears in his eyes. “You don’t know how much this means!”

Mindra stands back and lets the others do the talking, but a smile creeps onto her face as she watches Irene being greeted by her grandfather. She then looks over to the dancing and starts to tap her foot to the rhythm of the music. Maybe she will join in once other matters are attended to.

“Careful, young lord, what titles you use,” Ghaves warned Theremin, glancing toward the reeve on the steps of the inn, though he smiled and winked at the young bard. “You have done me a great service in returning my granddaughter, even more than you know.” He gave Irene a hug. “Why don’t you go on to the tower, my dear,” he told Irene, “and get some rest.”

Irene frowned. “But what about the New Moon festival, Grandfather?” she asked. Her gaze went to the crowd, clearly looking for someone.

Ghaves sighed. “Yes, I suppose one must let the young frolic a little.”

Irene beamed and kissed his cheek again, then dashed off, finding Curdy in the crowd and dragging him to the dancing green.

Ghaves watched and shook his head. “That boy…” he muttered.

Rousing himself, Ghaves looked to the adventurers. “You are, of course, invited to the festivities, as well,” he said. “Please, enjoy the food and frivolity. The moon circle will begin moonrise, so be sure to stop by the temple of your choice and fill out your intentions.” He nodded to the two churches flanking the green, the stately, but clearly in need of maintenance, Church of Paladine, and the rather new, wood paneled Dawn Church. At both, citizens were stopping by a table.

“Oh, and here, please, accept this as my thanks for the return of my granddaughter.” He dug around in his pocket and came out with a purse, handing it to Coriana. It contained 60 gold pieces.

“Oooh! Shinies!” Sayine said, peering over from Theremin’s shoulder.

Coriana stows the pouch, saying "Thanks" to the old man. To her companions, she says, "Let's just relax tonight and meet tomorrow to figure out if we have any next steps. We all still have no clue about our being summoned here, and even if we part ways, we have rewards to distribute."

Never one for religious ceremonies, Coriana will bemusedely check out the table by Paladine's temple and inquire what the signing up is all about.

"Tomorrow sounds like a fine time to decide what to do next. I am still curious about our mysterious patron as well. As for the reward, perhaps we can take care of that now? I have some shopping to do before the festival."

OOC: After dividing the loot, assuming the others agree, Mindra will go looking for three things. First, she wishes to order a set of studded leather armor. Next she wants to buy healing potions, if they are available, and not too costly. Finally, she wants a dress that is appropriate for the festival. Preferably in some shade of green, her favorite color. It looks like there is dancing and she doesn't want to miss out! ;)

As Coriana approached the table in front of Paladine’s temple, the old priestess, Prelate Edyna Tinroth, arrived as well.

“Thank you, dear,” she told the young woman at the table, putting a hand on her shoulder. “Go off and have some fun. I need to rest these old bones.”

The old woman sings down into the chair with a sigh and smiles up at Coriana. Spread on the table are little slips of blank paper and several charcoal pencils and ink and quills. A bowl of small cylinders of incense sat there also.

“Ah, Coriana. One of our itinerant guests. And a hero of young Curdy,” she said, looking toward Irene and Curdy dancing on the grass. Curdy, apparently, was about as graceful as an ox, but Irene didn’t mind a few stepped on toes, it appeared, to be able to stand close to the large ox of a boy. “Thank you sincerely for what you did,” she said, pressing Coriana’s hands. Her hands were thin and cool, the skin delicate. “Sir Ghaves is a dear friend.” She didn’t seem at all afraid that the Reeve would overhear her using Ledet’s old title and becoming irate.

“Have you filled out your intention for the month, young lady?” the prelate asked Coriana, holding up a pencil and one of the blank slips of paper.

***

Mindra had a bit of a time finding someone in a shop, as it seems most of the villagers were in the green at the festivities. However, asking around, she found the tailor, who, in deference to her rescue of Irene Ledit, was willing to open up his shop for her. The window of the shop was covered with a board, and Mindra recalled it had been broken by the goblins to steal Irene’s “wedding dress”. Inside, he did happen to have a dress that needed minimal alteration and was a fetching shade of green. She definitely turned some heads when she stepped outside again, and had no want of eligible young men wanting her on their dance cards.

Asking about the other items, Mindra found a tanner who had some armor in stock. He seemed more than willing to sell it to her, since otherwise, it seemed, it would go to the People’s Army, and he could charge her more for it, though she found the price wasn’t really more than she had expected (i.e. standard book price). He would open up for her tomorrow to come for it.

Healing potions could be had at either of the two churches or at the herbalist’s shop, but again, the shop wasn’t open until the morning.

OOC: Feel free to work out a division of the loot. I kept a list, and who is holding what. Once it’s divided out, I’ll delete it to make room for the next batch of loot.

Studded leather armor can be had at standard price.

Paladine Church has 1 healing potion available.
Dawn Church has 4 available
Herbalist has 4 available.
All will cost you the standard 50 gp each.
Haggling could bring the prices down a bit.

OOC: Stuff we have valued already comes to 303 gp. That's 75gp, 7sp, 5cp each. The exact breakdown is
1 share (Coriana): 50gp gem + 2 gp + 180 sp + 575 cp
3 shares (Others): 26 gp + 440 sp + 575 cp
The Chalcedony necklace should be appraised and split, Coriana thinks she should hold onto it, the eversmoking bottle Liam should hold onto if he wants it. Mindra holds the dreamlily, and Theremin holds the genealogical docs.

Coriana will look in the morning to purchase jeweler's tools and a shield. And to appraise and sell the necklace to split.

"What's all this about intention? I'm not familiar with the custom," she says to the old priestess.
