Boy, I'm really excited about the new PHB and am jazzed to start a new game with it. The Borderlands would be ideal, especially since my youngest is in a D&D club at school and wants to start playing a home game again.

... oh, that's right. A year from now.

With this kind of wait, this had better be the most mind-blowing starter set of all time.
Yeah, my friend and I are going to introduce his kids to D&D, and I really would have liked to have had the new starter set. But LMoP with revised pregens it is.

So, in the recent article announcing Wberron and the Octover Surprise, we.got this cool new rt piece that riffs on Erol Otis' original painting for B2:

We all learned that character generation in the Starter Set will work through some sort of random tile based build a bear system.

For a bit of bored speculation...I have previously om these boards wondered if the hinted-at storyline starring Venger, who appears on the DMG cover, might be i this reimagining of Keep on the Borderlands inserting this classic Gugaxian Saturday Morning Cartoon villain into the classic Gygaxian Saturday Morning Dungeon Crawl as the BBEG behind everything.

Now, separately, WotC has continually figured the old cartoon protagonist in a. Umber of recent products ta, including introducing a new character and mentioning in the DMG that there are a number of other similar Adventurers from our world wandering The Realm.

What if...the tiles let players generate their own Portal Fantasy doppelganger in the mode of the 80s cartoon...?
