So what would you call it? I don’t care, I just know people like old stuff, especially with the crap removed.

I don’t understand the gatekeeping attitude that would rather let things rot than let young people play with them.
Keep your name-calling to yourself. The originals are right there for anyone of all ages to "play with", and if they aren't they should be.

Why must we accept all the flawed elements of something as unchanging rather than make it better? Superman was part of WW2 anti-Japanese propaganda, does this mean we should never use Superman and instead make a new superhero?
Indeed. One could argue that the different incarnations of Superman are a bridge across generations. Some things change, but the core idea of Superman is pretty timeless, and recognizable to fans young and old.

I just don’t get the « fans » that are like « don’t publish any new Superman stories, you’re erasing the older ones! » or « the changes to Superman lore are just a cash grab by DC comics! ».

That is not nostalgia. That is a very agreeable interest in history, and should be encouraged by providing access to and thoughtful analysis of the primary sources, not by showing them a modern pastiche with similar proper nouns and claiming it has much at all to do with anything in the past.

Good grief. Now you're trying to make this all into a "History of D&D 101" college level course? It's just a module inspired by an old module. Hardly anything new. They're not erasing anything. I liked the original version of the movie The Fly and I enjoyed the remake.

There are only so many themes for a module, I don't see an issue with recycling an old one. After all there is nothing new under the sun.

Kinda, yeah, if the alternative is erasing that part of history. A thing consists of everything that is part of it's history, not just the parts you like (or the parts you don't like).

That's a character.

I'm a game that supposedly is infinite is scope, it sure seems odd Wizards goes back to the same well all the time.

Exactly. Let's never reboot a comic book. Let's never cover an existing song, adapt a book to a play or movie, remake a movie, remaster a video game, or make a new edition of a game. New ideas only.

IMO people who recycle should try harder to make it look original. That means not using the same names to increase sales (and for no other reason).
