Hextor and Heironeous's common parent?

Some additional H&H trivia. Rob Kuntz mentioned somewhere on the Greytalk list that Hextor and Heironeous were both part of the nine "demigods" imprisoned in Castle Greyhawk in EGG's original Greyhawk campaign. In the Greyhawk campaign I run, Heironeous and Hextor are actually the same being, although no mortal knows this. They two priesthoods resulted from factionalization of the Oeridian was cult in ancient times now forgotten. Definitely not cannon, but I like how it explains the intense fratricide between the two cults.

That idea about H&H of yours is golden and it just gave me a great idea: A deity with split personalities! Or maybe a childlike god playingwith his toy soldiers. Sheesh, the implications! It goes right along with al the insanity inherint in Greyhawk. What appears to be wo gods is really one god with two personalities working against each other, but then you discover that it is not even that, its a god simply playing war.

If not that than, IMC I would say thier fathers were mere mortals. That explains why they start off as demigods.

Why not take it ten steps farther. There is really only one god, Zagyg, who has two-hundred and fifty different personalities. He really is crazy. :)

that would just be hard to roleplay. It was thinking that it would be cool to have all this fighting going on between orders of H&H to the point where their avatars are involved, and it treatens to reah a cataclysmic level. Then the heroes finally realise, woah, this is the same god, he must be crazy, and then they figure out that he is just playing "with his toys."

Good campaign back story...

All gods Zagygwould just be too much to handle.
