Good to see a new person here. I my self a ben playing over a year and im trill finding new things (I also DM which might explan alot). Other than I cant spell I have good ideas and I seam to know whats on a good level (Well ive ben here since they redid the bords). So I cant be much help at fingering what to by all I can say is go with what seams right its worked for me. Ive never used any of the expendable items. (Of corse my highest charater is a Wu Jen. See Oriental Adventures. Sorry I gust love that book. Like I do the epic book. It must be me (or its a guy thing) but we all still have a lot to learn).

I do have one get something to up your Con score itll save you in the long run. If you can see a copy a SF (Sorry for the short verchen of the name) for its vest of false life. (Ive played wizards most of my time so I know you need to stay alive to do what you need to do.

Hi, Enchantress

There are some on these boards who are a tad, strange. But they're mostly harmless. If they get a bit pushy, tell them "No!" in a clear, firm voice and send them for a time out in their little doggy beds.:D

No advice regarding stuff to buy. I do have some concerning play.

1. Pay attention to what the DM says, even the "fluff". While most "flavor text" was written by somebody doing a bad imitation of Ben Stein, it will usually mention stuff that you could actually use.

2. When in doubt, improvise. Your PC might get killed, but it's a certainty she'll be remembered. ("Hey, it's Mango Guy!" (long story.))

3. Spells are your strength, use them. Use them even when it seems like the wrong time to do so. Use them in new and creative ways. True Story: My priest of Chauntea and her friends were trapped in a small room with some small fire creatures. On the spur of the moment she cast a Create Water. The water hit the creatures, flared into steam which filled the room, and snuffed out the beasts. So use your magics in different ways, you might come up with something that works. At worst, you'll provide hours of stories for your friends.

4. There is no "right way" to play a character. There are boring ways, and interesting ways, but no right way. Play your PC in a way that makes her interesting to you, and interesting to your fellow players. Keep your eye on the prize, keep yourself open to opportunities, and remember that no matter what anybody else says, the DM is out to kill you, so you might as well make his job as hard as possible.

5. Hamsters. You won't believe a the chaos a bunch of hamsters can create.:p

Have fun.

Other than me, there's Dragongirl, Ashtal, Edena of Neith, Snoweel, and, um, several more that I can't think of at the moment.

Snoweel and Edena are both men, as far as I can tell.

Well then, I guess we'll just have to let them speak for themselves. Hopefully they'll both eventually turn up in this thread.

Snoweels a woman?

Nope. Neither is Edena. They've both been posters here for a long while, and I know that the issue has come up for Edena a few times. I think it's the name; most people perceive it to be feminine, but it isn't.

Welcome! And glad to have you; you too, Queenie!

Lots of other women here; Madriel, KidCthulhu, Sialia, Iron Chef BBQ, Malessa, Mythago, Jobu, Balsamic Dragon, and a whole mess more.
