High Level Fighter Vs. High Level Barbarian

Sorry, I am a newbie in this messageboard didn't know that when you have to select the text to see it, it was secret.
'Sokay. We'll analyze this battle in full after it's finished, I'm sure.
Really sorry, I still hope that your Barbarian will get crushed , otherwise there is something broken in D&D.
Something broken in D&D? What an astonishing concept! Any game system based on rules is going to have ways to exploit those rules in ways that were not originally concieved. You've got an opinion: All fighters should always be able to defeat all barbarians of equal level in a one-on-one fight. That's just an opinion, and isn't stated anywhere in the books. It's all in the dice.

Ghengis: You only have a split second to analyze your horse's body language. (This seems more in line with Handle Animal to me than Ride. If it were 3.0, it would be Animal Empathy).
(Rolled: Handle Animal check = 24).

Somewhere to my right, you think, probably one of those two spaces.

Choose a square: CU-51 or CV-51

First arrow in CU-51, Second Arrow in CV-51, continue to alternate squares until I hear/see the arrow thud into the gnome, then all remaining arrows at the square the gnome is in.

I'm rooting for his barbarian. My warrior is going to taunt and insult his invisible gnome, but that is IC stuff. OOC I'm very interested to see how his barbarian can deal with an archer.

Archery is very dangerous in D&D (probably too dangerous).

Why do you say that archery is dangerous in D&D?

I have to root for your fighter. As DarkMaster said, if a fighter can't beat a barbarian with 6 str, something's wrong.

Ghengis:

Arrow 1 at CU-51: Miss
Arrow 2 at CV-51: Miss
Arrow 3 at CU-51: Miss
Arrow 4 at CV-51: Hit! Mugly, you take 31 points of damage.

It is Mugly's turn.

I normally play a melee character, but I have two friends who play archers. They normally do far more damage than my melee character does.

Ghengis spoiler:
Mr. Ghengis here is quite capable of dealing over 100hp of damage per round against targets hundreds of feet away - even if he doesn't crit - and he doesn't even have magical arrows.

Mugly draws out his Wand of Hold Person and fires it at Ghengis. He then steps back one square, away from the elf

Spoiler - not for either combatant to read:
Mugly should probably use that Wand of Hold Person on the horse - as it's Ghengis's only means to "detect" invisible, he'll be in a bad spot. The horse's Will save sucks, so it'll probably be Held.

Just for heliopolix (not for combatants)
Hold person only works on humanoid creatures. He would have needed hold animal to use against the horse. Plus, the horse is just a stupid animal that follows its rider's commands. If the rider is held, the horse just sits there (unless it is a special mount).

(I figure Ghengis' Will save is +3, correct?) Ghengis is under the influence of a Hold Person. Khan stumbles, confused, looking back at his master for direction.

Ghengis: You attempt to throw off the affects of the Hold Person and fail. Unless there's something you can do while held, I'm defaulting back to Mugly's turn.

Hold Person Duration Counter:
3 rounds remaining.
(I'm away from my computer 'till tomorrow folks!)
