High-level spellcasters and item creation

That's why I chose to change creation time instead of market price. If you read the first post in the thread, you'll see that even when the 15th level druid is making an item at the peak of his ability (amulet of mighty fists +5), he makes the same amount of money per day as the 3rd level druid. That's the thing I find odd. Why should the time of the Archdruid of the High Forest only command the same price as the time of Bob the Druidic Initiate?

I see your point - but 500gp profit per day of work done, income of 15000gp/month, is so high for any non-Epic level that I don't see the time taken to make the 1000gp+ item as a significant factor. Few casters of any level will be spending more than a small proportion of their time on item creation. Low-level casters will mostly make items worth less than 1000gp, taking 1 day per item anyway.

If a 15th level druid makes exactly the same item a 3rd level Druid could make, I see no reason why he could charge more for it than the 3rd level druid could. If he makes an item only a 15th level druid could make, he should be able to get more money for it. 'Market price' is what the market is willing to pay, and should be based on the characteristics of the created item, not its creator.

You hit the nail right on the head. Something everyone seems to forget is that the price is based on the caster level - increase the caster level, and the price increases accordingly. Thus, the 15th level druid creating an item WILL make more per day (and more overall) than the 3rd level druid, unless they're using the same caster level.

No, he won't, because in the core rules "Creation time" is linearly based on base price, which means any caster makes the same amount of money per day. The exceptions are:

1. Low-power items that take a full day to make despite being less than 1000 gp. Higher-level casters can get more "oomph" out of their day than low-level casters this way.

2. Potions. They always take 1 day to make, regardless of cost... so a high-level caster could make an expensive potion in one day and make more than the regular amount.

Most items take 1 day already. Items that cost 25,000 GP or less take 1 day or less.

Say what?
Brewing a potion takes one day.
Enhancing a weapon, suit of armor, or shield takes one day for each 1,000 gp in the price of its magical features.
Crafting a rod takes one day for each 1,000 gp in its base price.
Crafting a staff takes one day for each 1,000 gp in its base price.
Crafting a wand takes one day for each 1,000 gp in its base price.
Enchanting a wondrous item takes one day for each 1,000 gp in its price.
Crafting a ring takes one day for each 1,000 gp in its base price.
Scribing a scroll takes one day for each 1,000 gp in its base price.

- all taken from the SRD.

Methinks you have gotten "1 day per 1000 gp" confused with "1 day per 1000 XP."
