Hit Points?

I prefer the higher hit points, just so it's more difficult to drop a character on a fluke crit, or for an encounter to be over before any of the monsters even have a chance to attack (Lower the Hit Points, the more important Initiative becomes).

With D&D using abstract hit points (stress, weariness, wounds, moral, etc...) it makes more sense for the numbers to be larger. But it would also make more sense if the attacks were more accurate, and if dndnext is like 4e with effects it'd be better if the chance for those affects were better. Aim for a 80% hit rate on even leveled enemies.

My experience is that combat doesn't drag due to hit points, it's more because the striker missed his big damaging attack, or the leader wasn't able to get the damage buff out, or they weren't able to weaken the target as planned.
