Limited Time only! :D

What do you think of these spells, as ideas.

"Technical" Spells
These are simply briefs, and the names, levels, and effects will certainly change.

Time Sense
/snip/
grants the caster knowledge of the current time, meters it's passing, and may be used to make a mental alarm. Material component is a small cog.
What do you mean by meters?

Gremlins

This spells brings into existance spirit composed of chaos. It's purpose is simple. When presented with machinery of any sort the spirit rusts gears, breaks cables, loosens nuts, and otherwise causes malfunctions causing 1d4 points of damage. This damage increases by 1d4 for every four caster levels for a maximum of 5d4 damage.
Does this also affect constructs? Nice spells, all around. Will time play an important role?

Edit: Hi Horacio.

Things aren't too bad...

I've already accepted that the guys of Paris enterprise won't do a better offer, so I'm not going to Paris. I had many hopes on it, but I think that it is better like this, and I can re-begin to search for a job in USA (prioritary objetive)...

Lotsa luck with the new seach!
Its a shame it didn't work out, yet you might find that US job faster :)

Skade: as the mail dont seem to be able to get there, the second time round. Here is the text from the mail :)

All others: chime in if you want to!

Here some teaser sample clockworks please let me know waht you think of these. Do you miss anything? What things do you want in addition to this? ( I deliberately didn't add my notes on the creation rules, as I like to know what you can deduce from these)

Greetz, Bazz

Chronometer
This is a small clock, it needs to be rewound every 12 hours, but it does tell time with great accuracy.
Components: Tiny gearwork, with very long springs.
Timepiece
Benefit: Tells time.
Duration: 12 Hr
Cost: 40gp

Jubilee Tabacco chest
These small boxes have a small musicbox build in. When the lid is opened they play the Mistyharbors anthem. They were build and given away for the opening of the Northern bridge, a Marvel of modern engineering. The lid is decorated with an image of the Northern Bridge. They hold a about half a lbs of tabacco
Components: Tiny Low quality gearwork.
Low quality Musicwork(chimes), build in song: Mistyharbor anthem
Benefit: When the lid is opened the box plays the national anthem with a perform(music box) skill of +3.
Duration: 1/2 Hr
Cost: 5,5gp (55gp /10 as it's mass-produced)

Box of fascination
This finely crafted clockwork, and it's decorated box, is engraved and the lid in inlaid with gems. The Music box plays standard song-rolls with small clear sounding bells. A hidden switch or a hidden timer can trigger the fascination mechanism. People that look at the box when it activates are mesmerised as by the bardic ability of fascination. Saves are as normal for the fascination ability done by a bard with a bardic skill of perform(music-box) +7.
Components: Small gearwork, with long springs.
High Quality Music work(bells), Song-roll reader, Timepiece, Fascination mechanism.

Thanks! :D

I mean it monitors its passing. So you know how much time has passed exactly. Often in my games I have placed the characters in situations where a plan relied on exact timing with one another without a way to coordinate the action. This is meant for that situation.

Yes, it affects constructs. I actually need to get a good term for machines, constructs and "complex machines" like crossbows, guns, etc. I wantr it to apply to all nonliving objects with multiple moving parts.

I don't know that time will play an important part, but I wanted to come up with spells that are "scientific" in origin. Spells that would fit with a spellcaster who relies not only on arcane arts, but the judicious use of mathematics and physical sciences in his Art.

Here is another one:
Assess Machine
Level: 1 wiz/sorc, machine 1
Components: S
Casting Time: 1 action
Range: close 25ft=5ft /level
Target: one machine, or construct
Duration: 10 minutes/level
Saving Throw: none (harmless)
Spell Resistance: no

This spell allows the caster to understand the nature and condition of a machine. It conveys such information as its state of repair (HP), composition (DR), function and operation. This grants a +2 competence bonus to all craft or proffession rolls to operate, or repair said machine.

Sorry to hear

First off I like the stat block for the items, with its components and functions listed below so that its creation can be done step by step, rather than a single craft roll. It also implies that its component parts may be purchased and assembled by someone skilled. I like it quite a bit. This gives a borader view of clockworks.

I would use the most basic of Clockworks : the timepiece!
