Based on what I’ve read so far (and I could be completely off base here), it seems like WotC is trying to make D&D less about the rules system, and more about the adventures played in it.

With that in mind, how many of you are planning on running or playing the Hoard of the Dragon Queen adventure?

I haven’t included it in the poll, but does the fact that Kobold Press are writing the adventure (instead of WotC keeping it in-house) have a positive, negative or no impact on your decision?

Personally I’ll be buying the Hoard of the Dragon Queen Adventure, although I’m not sure at this stage if I’ll be running it or playing in it. How good that adventure is will influence my decision to buy The Rise of Tiamat adventure.

The fact that Kobold Press are writing the adventure made Hoard of the Dragon Queen go from a “might buy” to a “almost certainly will buy”.

I hope to run the starter set stuff, then into this with my kids. I find, even with the awesome Scarlet Heroes rules (designed for solo play of OS modules) my two boys are struggling with the pure OS~ness of my preferred modules. So I will give the more 'balanced', less 'arbitrary', 5E a good go. Me I want some one to DM some OS die a lot modules for me, not that it will happen any time soon.

Undecided. I will get it and read it. When the opportunity comes to start a new game, I'll consider using these adventures, but they'll have to compete with other, different ideas.

If they blow me absolutely away, of course, ...

That's what I was thinking to.
I hope they thought of a good transition for all the new Starter Set people like me.

I'd hate to play to lvl 5 with my friends and then find out you have to start at lvl 1 again.

I might also run the Starter Set adventure, then segue into Hoard. Provided the beginning encounters can be smoothly cranked up, it shouldn't be an issue.

I plan to run the SS and then ToD with the kids too. I will probably run the SS with the pre-gens and then start over with character creation for the ToD.

Hmm . . . Maybe I should have my oldest son (soon to be 13) DM the starter set for us. He did a little DMing with the PF beginners box and he was pretty good.

I've ordered it, not sure if I'll run it (not sure if I have the time to commit to DMing anymore :(). It's likely that one of my groups will want to play it however.
