In Middle-Earth, that place than which there is nothing further West would be ... the elven heaven-on-earth. Hmmm...

The Land of the Setting Sun is not an idiom I've heard a lot but would logically refer to the far west. For instance, in stereotypical westerns, the victorious hero 'rides off into the sunset' - always going further west.
California?

Yeah, I always think of California as the land of the setting sun. So, beach-bum surfer hobbits smoking 'weed and carving out hobbit holes in the dunes.

Theyre not so much hanging ten as hanging fur.

...listening to a lot of songs by Dick of the Dale, though their favorite may be "Line of Pipes" by The Shantys.

"My hollow!" Would be their greeting- an invite to be welcome as if entering into their semi-subterranean houses.

Mmmm...the hobbit hard group known as The Serfaris might play "Wipeout" this way:

So the Brandywine area is the beach, and the sea fearing hobbits are the samurai of the mainland...
I presume that was a typo, but it can work both ways!
The sea-fearing hobbits stay inland while the sea-faring hobbits are to be found all over the seas ... anywhere tasty foods can be grown or unique ales brewed.

Not it wasn't a typo; the hobbits of the Shire thought that the hobbits of the Brandywine area were very queer (using Tolkien's terminology here) for using boats or swimming. They were distrustful of such arts.

So I merely projected that to the new scheme :)
