Appearance and Background: Dressed in black and grey clothes, Gwystyl presents a very different
picture from the average Grey Elf (if there is such a thing). His somber dress doesn't
carry over to his manner, however, as he smiles and jokes even in the most dire and
dangerous situations. It seems that danger is a stmulant to the Elf, though he is not foolhardy
or suicidal. Gwystyl wears a pair of swords, several daggers and a quiver of arrows&bow on his
back, along with a hand crossbow thathe keeps hidden under his cloak. A Quarterstaff is usually
in his hands, several rings and an odd (Gnomish, for those looking) clip like the ones
used for climbing(Indeed, he uses it to clip on to ropes for descents or to travel from rooftop
to rooftop).Gwystyl is a bit of a packrat, his pouches and especially his Haversack filled with
all manner of things. Gwystol travels with a Rat familiar named Dmitri, a Wharfrat that he saved
from several sailors trying to kill it in Elredd (The Wild Coast). Gwystyl himself stays elusive
as to where he is from, smiling and saying that his Past is his Past and his Future lies all across
Oerth...

Verakka hails from some distant swamp of the Southlands. He doesn't ever speak of his home, except to say that he is no longer welcome there for undisclosed reasons. An affinity for Humans may have been the cause, as Verakka has studied and is fascinated by Mankind. This carried over to his abilities as a Bounty Hunter (Ranger), as he proved very good at tracking down and catching Criminals.Verakka has recently shifted his focus to matters Arcane, using his skills gained as a youth in human cities to good use finding magical items and searching out enchanted places.
The Lizardman travels about with his familiar Sletha, though the little snake usually remains hidden while in cities, as the sight of a Viper would cause a rather bad reaction.

Now in Ptolus searching for a way to Seal the banewarrens, Verakka has been joined by a mysterious Grey Elf who says that he Dreamed of the Lizardman, and has come seeking him out, knowing that he needs to aid him and his companions in their Quest.

Dyrnas Firesight was a terribly misunderstood child from the Grey Elven Haven of Azenspire. A spindly and ugly Elf, he was reviled cruelly by his fellow children, some even questioning his heritage,so ungainly and homely did he look.
Then, one day Relphrim the Red, Wizard of the Duke Azen took the boy as his Apprentice. Things changed as young Dyrnas learned. The other children stayed clear of him, except for the few who sought to curry favor by befriending the Wizard's helper. Far from hating them, Dyrnas pitied them for the ignorant behavior that they had shown, determining that he would not fall prey to the xenophobic and bigoted view shared by so many of his reclusive kin. It was late in his 67th year that Dyrnas began having the Visions .
Already down the Path of the Diviner, the young Wizard began to see things in Fire, Visions and Portents. Whether a campfire, a torch or a blaze among a burning forest, Fire revealed things that others could not see.
One day last Spring, while conducting an experiment, a Vision appeared in the flame of the Crucible in Rephrim's Laboratory.
A city blackened by a Taint , the Folk dropping like plague victims. Dyrnas looked deeper and he saw signs, familiar things. It was Ptolus, a city that he had visited 10 summers prior. Something Evil lurked there. Then, he saw a figure among the Ranks of the Folk. A Lizardman, irredescent scales gleaming in the pale sunlight. The lizardmanand and several others fought against unseen Foes amongst the masses of Plague-Ridden folk.
Dyrnas felt compelled to go to Ptolus, to seek these folk out.
Borrowing a fast horse, the Wizard rode pell-mell to the city, anxiously searching for the lizardman. Weeks went by, with no sign of him or any ofthe others, and then one day he spotted this Lizardman in the street... Dyrnas had Pledged his services to Verakka, in whatever endeavors needed to stop the Evils of the Banewarrens. Hopefully, the group that accompanies Verakka can acomplish their goal before the city is overrun with whatever Foulness lurks below.

"Bellus Nimblenock gerw up in the City of Halstrud,having grown up as an orphan
serving as a 'gopher' in the Gladiatorial Arena of that city. There, unlike most (who
were forced against their will), the young Gnome eventually joined the ring, as the
thought of fighting Beasts and Monsters thrilled him to no end. Training especially
in the combatting of Abberations, Bellus used his acrobatic skills to augument his
fighting prowess (earning the favor of at least 2 Nobles, and making a small
fortune betting on himself. While in the Arena, Bellus helped in the escape of at
least 4 Slaves, feeling that nobody should be kept against their will (yet
wondering why they would want to leave suck an exciting life) One beneficiery of
Bellus Aid was a Lizardman named Verakka,who thanked the Gnome by teaching
him Draconic, the ancient language of the oldest of Beings on the
planet.Eventually, Bellus did tire of the Arena, seeing the outside World as an

Born to Arnbull Mac Morn of the Clan Mac Morn of Caer Eurodynne, Finnegan was
destined to assume the Mantle of Clan Chief following his father and all of his
Forefathers before him as Guardian of the Northern Marches. Not only were the
Mac Morn's engaged in ceaseless war with the Goblin tribes of the North, but they
were also, quite secretly, involved in a war to undermine the corrupt Emperor. All
this changed when, on the eve of his 13th birthday, a vicious attack by Clan
Druagh (Loyalist forces allied with the Kelt Emperor) caused havoc among Clan
Mac Morn. Nearly all of the Clan was killed or hauled off to face slavery, torture or
worse at the hands of the Druagh and the Emperor's Crellaigh (Lawkeepers).
Finnegan would have suffered a similar fate, had not Auldurveg (his father's
Advisor) spirited the youth away to the care of allies to the South. Under the
tutelage of Agents in a half dozen cities, Finnegan grew wise in the ways of
Stealth, Intrigue and War. The young boy grew into a young Man on raids against
the Emperor's tax collectors, his favored Merchant Houses and even against his
Crellaigh. There came a day when Auldurveg returned to the young Mac Morn,
bearing a parcel wrapped in bear fur. Within the furs was a Sword both long of
blade and handle.
'This is Brellaign, your father's blade. I returned North when I had delivered you
and found the Sword lying in the charred ruins of Caer Eurodynne.
'Brellaign…' Finnegan mused, 'Dawn-Hand'.
'It is time for you to take up your father's blade, Finn…and to receive the calling
of Frelnyr, Patron God of the Clan Mac Morn.'
And so Auldurveg brought to Finnegan his Birthright, and set him upon a most Dire
and Fell course, for his Wyrrd was to challenge and destroy the Emperor himself.
Now Auldurveg has sworn himself to Finnegan, and the young Finnegan has set
out to defeat his Nemesis. Traveling abroad in the hopes of gaining allies,
Finnegan has embarked on a Path that might take years or even decades to
accomplish, but he is a patient man.

Finnegan currently has lives under the guise of 2 Aliases: The Elven Painter
Aelnarim Thelarios and the Kelt Actor Crolmyr Mac Brogyln .
He rents an apartment as Aelnarim and owns a modest house as Crolmyr in
separate parts of the 'City' (wherever the game starts).
Finnegan uses the house as his Base of Operations for his men as well, these
posing as 'servants' for the moderately affluent Actor.

Finnegan's attitude towards his Cohorts, troops and servants (if any) is dutiful
and loyal. Finn will risk his life to save one of his men as soon as look at them.
This is a trait ingrained by his father in his readying the young Finnegan for
Leadership of the Clan.

BACKGROUND:
Vyrden Underleaf once lived a very simple existance, with a simple diet and a simple Plan.
He woke up in the morning,said hello to whatever animals were about and went about his daily routine of cleaning the large Tree-bole that he lived in (complete with garden,and an observatory platform some 30' up in the branches).Vyrden played in the streams (avoiding 'Old Grumpyfins', a huge Catfish bent on eating him), raced against Weasels and Marmots (usually losing, but winning a few races), danced with Vindra and Syrellia, the 2 Pixie Girls who lived in the Meadow just over the Hill and creating polstices and herbal remedies for any who need them (many animals were hurt by Hunters or through accidents).

One day, Red-Tail the Squirrel ran to Vyrden's Home, chittering wildly. Vyrden used an Animal Friendship spell to fully understand his distressed friend. "Coming, Death coming!!!" was all Red-Tail would say, over and over.
Vyrden pulled a long Oaken Box from under his bed of moss and opened it. Inside were his 'Things'.
For years Vyrden had lived peacefully, avoiding Man, Goblins and even usually avoiding the Elves that lived in The Forest'. This was an extrordinary situation, however, so the young Forest Gnome girded himself with the armor of his father and picked up Autumn-Bringer, his diminuative Scimitar. Vyrden exited to fing Yellow-Eye, his closest friend waiting outside.
'Come-Danger-North...Come' was all Yelloweye would say. Vyrden mounted upon the huge back of the Dire Wolf and rode off, followed by a dozen birds and many smaller animals, for this was their Champion, and whatever Red-Tail was scared of would stand no chance against him.
Vyrden's journey was not long, for soon he began to see signs of devastation, trees uprooted, small hills and hummocks smashed flat and everywhere a strange pungeant odor.
And then, cresting the hill leading into the Valley of the Two Stars (or so he had named it, after it's lovely occupants), Vyrden say the Horror that was the 'Death' of Red-Tail's Warning.
Lying upon the meadow where 2 Pixie Girls once dwelled was a huge reptilian form, a Dragon of the darkest Verdant Green. Great wings spread out, buffeting the air and creating a swirling mass of dirt and a veritable tornado of twigs and small rocks to pelt the area.
Vyrden shook, terrified of the great Dragon, yet he knew what he must do.
Imbuing his blade with an enchanted essence and his skin with a barklike hardness, the Druid rode down over the Hill to confront the Villain.
Well, whatever he did expect, it was most certainly not laughter, yet that is what the Dragon did.
Ho, Sir Knight...Think you of sufficient mettle to Slay Me!?! You look more like a Mite than a knight, my good Sir'
Vyrden replied in as sure a voice as he could muster 'Aye, Great Wyrm, I am the protector of this Wood, and of all the Creatures within it's Bounds. Leave now and I will not have to harm You.'
The Dragon laughed heartily at this, exhaling a great gout of Gas which nearly melted the very ground it touched, wilting all of the plants within it's area.
'Well, my Knight, perhaps that is so...or perhaps it is for a maiden you do Contest?' At this the Dragon moved slightly and there lay an diminiative form, the Pixie Maid Vindra, the Love of Vyrden's Heart.
'Vyrden!' she cried, for crying she was. tears streaming down her little pale cheeks, her wings bound with vines.'He ate Syrellia!' Vindra then wept uncontrollably, her head hanging.
'Yes, and what a Sweet Morsel she was, my Good knight...Hahaha...why I do believe that I shall have seconds, come to think of it.' And as Vyrden charged down the hill in Rage, and as the Great Green Dragon opened it's jaws to eat the pixie Maid, and as the animals all around despaired at what would happen now that this Death had come, something most extraordinary
happened. From out of the Woods stepped a Being green in color, with Moss for hair and the Irises of Flowers for eyes. This Being was unknown to Vyrden, yet it clearly meant to confront the dragon.Blowing ever so lightly, a tiny breeze ushered forth from it's mouth and struck the Dragon,growing in size and force as it went, until it engulfed the whole of the Scene: Dragon, Pixie and even a few Jays desperatly trying to wing away to safety. All were caught frozen, motionless, the dragon poised to swallow Vindra, the Pixie defiantly facing her fate (a shiny tear still on her cheek) and the birds caught in mid-flight.
The Being turned to Vyrden and spoke.
Greetings, young Vryden Underleaf...I am...you would call me The Woodsfather, I suspect, had I a name that fit my Role.I am the embodiment of this Forest, and it is an honor to finally 'meet' you, it's self-chosen Champion. I must speak quickly, for holding this Form is not pleasant to me, and I would go once more to my natural state. I have 'shifted' the Dragon and his surroundings to a moment slightly out of phase with us. He will remain Frozen for exactly One Year.as the Spell will end on this day, at the exact moment that it was cast, One Year hence. What you do in that Year is up to you, good Gnome, but I suggest that you use it to gird yourself more fully for battle, or to gain aid in defeating this Beast. As for myself, I will assure that nothing harms the Spell, for that, at least, is within my Power. Fare Thee Well.'
And with that he was gone...leaving a stunned Vyrden to ponder just how he could find a way to defeat so Powerful an Enemy.
With a heavy Heart, Vyrden closed up his home and left the Woods,taking only Yellow-Eye with him, intent upon finding allies and help to slay this foul Dragon. He only had one year, and Seasons come and go much faster than you would like, once Calamity Strikes.

Froedrich Ostrander hails from the North-East of the Realms.
Galloping astride his yellow liveried Warpony Britengriseling
and bearing the Axe Glimmerlicht, Froedrich cuts an impressive
if odd picture. The fact that the Barbaric priest of the war God
Fjorn Thundercaller is less than 4 feet tall is a moot point,
as several opponents have quickly found.
Froedrick's crowning achievement in battle so far has been
the defeat of the Ogre Rackenscald, who was terrorizing the small
hamlet of Ulrfensfjord. Froedrich first bested the Foul Beast in a
drinking contest and then ( after the enraged Ogre attacked him) he slayed
Rackenscald in single combat (the Ogre did manage to kill several small
saplings and at least one barrel in the fight in his drunken stupor).
