Honestly, if WoTC didn't create it would 4e be D&D?

Have you played it? Does it facilitate the killing of monsters and taking their stuff any better than D&D?

Yes, I own both Reign and D&D 4e... I have played and ran both and I said earlier I would be happy to answer any questions about it. I believe it does, but at least I'm talking from experience instead of just talking with nothing to back it up.

Can you play it with a battlemat? Does it play like Descent?

What? Yeah, you could play it with or without a battlemat... what does Descent have to do with anything. hong, we are talking about Reign and Dungeons & Dragons, maybe I'm just not understanding what the point of this post is (you know sorta like I don't understand how you've made a judgement about a game you never played). Please expound, because I'm really trying to follow whatever logic this is that you are using.

Does it have more class-specific superpowers than 4E? Does it allow people to share the spotlight in combat by giving everyone a well-defined role? Does it waste space on unnecessary filler like Craft and Profession?

Uhm, no "class specific superpowers", but Reign does have simple, advanced and expert combat maneuvers... as well as combat secrets (which are martial paths that allow "superpowers" to characters who learn them, and esoteric disciplines which are non-combat "superpowers" for other skills (like stealth or lie).

Not good enough. WoW and D&D teach us that people like classes, and class-specific superpowers.

Oh yeah, it also has advantages which would be equivalent too (but offer a much wider range than) D&D's feats.

Actually it has both a "role" based creation system which can be totally random all the way up to specific design (very similar to Warhammer's careers) as well as a totally customizable creation method. It's great for beginners who need to be steered as well as experienced players who don't want to be stuck with limited design capability with their character.

Uhm, no craft or profession skills.
