Honestly, if WoTC didn't create it would 4e be D&D?

Thats a lot of Sacred Cows. Is it still D&D?

Where's the beef? That's mostly fiddly stuff. Of the rest, either it hadn't been added yet, or it was also true of OD&D. Despite the preface at the beginning of the post, I do not see that any sacred cows were harmed in the making of BECMI D&D.

Minis are good for keeping the violence organised because real DMs care about who does what to whom.

Real DMs own better rules that allow them to not need to care so much about this and instead be able to care more for more important things.

Real DMs DM for real players, who are likely to want to kill monsters and take their stuff.

Not good enough to displace WoW and D&D, of course.
Oh, ok that's what you were arguing, because nowhere in this thread is this asserted ( I guess except by you). Masses love Mc Donalds and it hasn't been displaced by better quality restaurants... does this mean Mc Donalds has the best food?

Note: I am not asserting that D&D 4e is the Mc Donalds of rpg's only using the example to show the fallacy of Hong's argument since the original assertion was about better game systems... not most popular.

And yet Reign gives me even more and better ways to play and run this type of game... I can kill a whole kingdom and take all it's stuff.

No, but it means that the masses will continue to play D&D, because it provides what the masses want.

Me, I like peanut butter.

Ah. This must be a new meaning of kill that I wasn't aware of before.
