Hounds of Varr - Power Game Recruiting

Halford

First Post
First off I'd like to say that I love roleplay. However, I also enjoy playing around with character concepts and attempting to get as much out of builds as possible. This game would be designed for the later, a naked power game.

The Hounds of Varr are a good aligned interplanar mercenary company. The Hounds operate in small teams known as Packs with a powerful support structure monitering each Packs progress.

I run this game in real life with a typical group of 8-10 players and have a current death rate of approximately 3 per game. Typically these characters die because they bring in non min-maxed characters, and I allow the players to make changes before the next game. Death is not that big an issue in this game though as you will be raised from the dead for free and returned withn three rounds - you may also choose to put up 10,000gp to be raised without level loss, which may take the form of actual coin or 20,000gp of items which you designate since they sell for half value...

The game will begin at 12th level.

36 Point Buy.

You may select 1 flaw to gain a feat - see the SRD for flaws. You may also select any number of traits.

Books Allowed anything 3.5. Most class variants are allowed with the exception of Domain Wizards, no gestalt, no generic classes.

Races: Anything in a 3.5 book, level adjustments included, no Savage Species though as its 3.0.

Wealth: 88,000gp with a maximum of 44,000gp allowable for any one item.

Alignment: You must be good.

Game Format: You will face powerful opponents designed to maximize their abilities. You may engage in inter party discussion, etc., but aside from that you will simply be moved along from combat to combat.

I would like to play either a werebear warbeast warshaper ,ogre mineral warrior warhulk or half ogre mineral warrior cleric/barbarian. would any of these concepts be ok?

EvolutionKB, Planar Shepard is absolutely fien, though I will not allow the altered time effect of some planes to work in the bubble and since we won't be playing in Eberron you'll need to find a Greyhawk corresponding plane to what you would like, etc., should not be difficult and I'd be happy to help if you need it.

bedford, Mineral Warrior is one of the few things I will veto for this, Ogre, Warhulk, and Werebear are all fine - even combined. I am not sure I am familiar with Warbeast I will gladly take a look if you can tell me what book its in.

I'm afraid you know wrong DCrane1, Warlocks certainly do not have to be neutral or evil, I checked Complete Arcane which even specifically mentions good aligned Warlocks. So no problem whatsoever!

I am considering a natural werebear 9 cleric 1 warshaper 2 focusing on grapple and natural attacks, and I have some questions. Would you allow me to cast enlarge person when in hybrid form? (already enlarged due to bear size) to be huge sized? and would I be able to use improved grab in hybrid form?

Afraid not bedford the Lycanthrope entry specifically precludes casting spells with verbal, somantic, or material components while in hybrid form. You could cast a silent, stilled, version with the eshew materials feat I suppose.

I don't see why someone else could not cast it on you though, as you still qualify for person spells.
