House of the Dragon spoiler thread

Calling some of the most normal/expected writing at the end of a season (i.e. setting up events and cliffhangers for next season) in human history "so manipulative" sounds extremely angry to me.
I just don't get angry over this stuff. It's just tv. I have no idea how you get that.

From you complaining that a perfectly normal way to end a season of TV was "so manipulative". I don't know how else to take that. It's a very strange thing to say. It's like being mad that Hamilton has singing or something.

I sort of agree but manipulation is the wrong word. I would say for a season finale it was basically a giant tease
We got a lot of for casual viewers (ohh wow he sees the future but what does it mean) and a lot of characters moving in position for season 3. It was about an hour that really condensed into 10 minutes
It’s still very good television but let’s be honest nobody (not a lot of buzz) for that last episode

Excellent timing.. My HBO Subscription was scheduled to renew on Thursday.

I'm not mad about it. It was overall a good season. My favorite parts of Game of Thrones were all the politicking, so this season being a whole lot of that was fun.

Daemon is an odd one. He goes from spending his whole life being self serving and hungry for power, and now all of the sudden he dreams of zombies and does a 180. It seems out of character for him, after spending a week in a haunted castle and being drugged by a witch, to have some nightmares and let them control him like that.

I guess getting a good night's sleep really is important though.

I haven't read all the replies on the last episode, but I agree with @RangerWickett's response that we could have used two more episodes. I'd prefer more screen time to flesh out a few more things and to get my investment in certain characters that have had little screen time.
With GoT I liked all the characters until Grey Worm and Daario. I wasn't sold on them.

Prince Jacaerys for me is one of the characters I'm least invested in.
I haven't read the book, but I'm not a fan of his casting and likely the dialogue.
His great scenes with the Starks and Freys were because of the settings and those around him rather than him.

As for how it ended, no action, I was fine with that.
I can wait, I love slow burns (ironic for a show with dragons)

Similar here lol, I immediately cancelled my NowTV subscription as this is done. They're not getting one penny more than I need to spend to be able to talk about the show with friends as it comes out. Absolute scumbags who overcharge grotesquely for trash service and the worst app which runs on the fewest different platforms.

I like the show. I'm sad Zaslav or someone else at HBO forced them to shorten it to 8 episodes instead of 10, because yeah, there's probably two more eps worth of stuff to really land a great ending. But as is? Solid season, if not as great as the first.
I could have sworn that I heard way back that House of the Dragon was going to be two seasons only -- am I misremembering? Regardless, they are saying it's going to be four seasons now.

It is following the tradition of Game of Thrones -- it is the penultimate episode of each season that has lots of action and dramatic events, and the last episode of the season is people reacting to such. Last episode was Vermithor roasting and gobbling up lots of Targaryen bastards and two dragonriders coming out of it. The finale was everyone reacting to the new status quo.

Luckily I checked here during work and this thread reminded me I needed to cancel.

I went to the website on my phone, and upon signing in, it gave me two options. "Download the App" or "Manage Subscription" so I tap the second one and it takes me to a new page that times out. I figure no big deal, I work in a dungeon, so service is horrible. I go back to try again, and now when I sign in, the only option I'm presented is "Download the App"... That seems odd.

I spend ten minutes installing the app. Load it up, sign in, go to manage my subscription and it immediately takes me out of the app and back to the web browser.

Good grief.
