How do you pronounce...?

Illicit and illegal stress the second syllable because it is a prefix that implies negation. Il-legal (not legal), il-licit (not licit, not permitted by law). For three-syllable words without prefixes (such as syllable, possible), stressing the first syllable is quite common.

I'm a touch dislexic (can you tell?:)) so when I first saw Illithid, I thought the only possible way of pronouncing it was I-thil-lid.

Ever since then I just can't make myself say either Illithid or Illithid. I think Ithillid sounds much cooler.

It's spelt Illithid, but it's pronounced Throatwobbler Mangrove.

Or in the voice of a running peasent to any guy with a sword, "Man-eating, sucks brains, mouth like a squid. Oh, Pelor save us all!!!!!!!"

Than agian, you might want something shorter. ;) :D

il-LITH-id.

IL-lithid just sounds... well, it doesn't fall right on my ears.

Wyrm is like Worm in my opinion. Unless you want to pronounce it like a strangled form of "weird" with an "m" on the end.

Nah, it's like Worm...

Hmm...I'm not much good with telling about emphasis, but I've always had the "i" sound at the start as a seperate syllable.

Ih-li-thid

I guess I'm just different. I say lich as leech, and I don't think that's right for most people, either.
