How do you pronounce...?

I was hoping to hear a resounding consensus within this thread, since I've heard both pronounciations in almost equal number over the years. For some reason, this does not seem to raise emotions and begin debates like the competing forms of pronouncing "drow".

I've always loved how messed up the pronounciation of english is... at least all the Latin tongues generally follow their own rules.

Who may be quite complicated. In the sentence "Les poules du couvent couvent", "couvent" and "couvent" are not pronounced the same way, since the former in a noun, while the latter is a verb in plural form (mute -ent).

But yes, even if the rule is a bit tricky, it is a set rule. The added -nt or -ent at plural forms of verb is one of the trickier rule French has.

I go with PAL-a_DINE (like the eating thing) for the Dragonlance god.

This one, I can speak to as we had a huge debate about it in high school. I ended up looking it up in a dictionary (imagine!).

Other words I regularly hear mispronounced, despite being in the dictionary:

piton is pee ton not pi ton

dwarf is dwarf not wal rus

Pronounce Illithid any way you like. It really doesn't make a difference to me, especially since it is a word that does not have a real world corollary in the first place.
