I thought about putting this in Gen discussion but e-publishing seems quite appropriate.

Hi John,

Actually, you might consider posting this to General if you want to get responses from more "average Joe" PDF users. I think this forum probably reflects "preaching to the converted and the choir" :)

Hmmm, I generally do my initial perusal on screen, then print out a hard copy of 'the good bits'. On a very few products I print out the entirety, but since I sometimes have to carry what I need to use for a game in a bag upon my back I tend to go through and prune what I don't need. (I run a game on an island connectd to the mainland by a ferry, there is no convenient road...) Even so my bag weighs over 30 pounds, not including the two gun cases filled with miniatures....

The Auld Grump, who walks a lot anyway....

I've actually taken to converting them and downloading to my palm. I can fit a few on at a time with 8mb memory, and its much more pleasant than reading on the screen - I can sit in the recliner and kick back with an RPG book like I do with a print version. Also much cheaper (since I own the Palm, free) than printing.

I would love for publishers to come out with a palm-friendly format - no artwork, no sidebars (these generally confuse the software) and something done with tables, perhaps stored as images. Just the text so I can read it on my handheld. It would be very handy for going to and from games as well.

One of these days I'll get around to putting the SRD on there.

I print them if they're under 20 pages, but anything over that I read on-screen. However, I also print out particular pages of use. I really REALLY hate reading on-screen.

I'll print them out if I'm doing a review, otherwise I generally read it onscreen.

I do a lot of cutting and pasting into character and campaign documents though and computer use is higher than hard copy use for me.

I read everything on-screen. I've printed out a template or two, but I can't see myself waisting ink and paper for it. I'll buy the print version, if there is one.
