How do you travel with your minis?

Why are you carrying thousands of minis to other people's home to play? Do you really expect to use them? Is it one of those very freeform games where you never know what you will encounter?

I'm providing them for other DM's a lot of the time.

I also bought a discount riflecase for mini transporting needs.

If you are talking plastic minis, I transport them in gallon-size ziplock bags. I also use plastic peanut jars. Just toss them into my backpack or a shopping bag and go. They are not fragile at all.

If you are talking metal minis, I use fishing tackle boxes. Pack each little separate container in the tackle box with little sheets of foam rubber and it works great for storing and transporting minis.
