How far have you gone in a base class?

What's the highest number of levels you have taken in a base class?

I'm involved in an epic-level discussion on the House Rules forum, and I was wondering - what's the highest number of levels you've taken in a base class? What I'm really wondering here, basically, is how many people have actually taken a base class past L20, but I'm also curious to see how far they have gone, if not to 20+.

The trouble with phrasing it this way, Kerrick, is it doesn't really account for those of us who've never played a game to level 20+. I guess what you really need to ask is what percentage of character level is a single base class level. For myself, the answer is 100% at level 8 (since I usually DM D&D).

As a player, the most levels I've taken in a base class is 4 (and I'm currently 21st level).

As a DM, I have a 24th-level paladin NPC that has accompanied the party since he (and they) were 1st level.

This was my very first thought. I picked 11-15. However I feel it's important to note that don't often play games above level 15 (the times I have it's been with a multiclassed/PrC'd character).

But I have played a straight wizard (This is the only class I've ever played straight with no multi or PrC). I just never played that wizard above level 15.

I picked 11-15, only because we haven't gotten higher yet, though I fully intend to take my (now 14th-level) paladin straight to 20 single-classed.

Level 10 rogue, game ended after that.

Currently playing a 9th level ECL 10 duergar ranger in one game and an 8th level straight dwarf monk.

Highest level character I think was a gargoyle who advanced to size large then took a level of barbarian and fighter. Not sure off the top of my head what ECL that was. Otherwise in 3e it is a 15th level rgr 1/wiz5/eldritch knight9 who is getting close to 16th level
