How Many Actual Sessions Has Your Current Long-Term Campaign Had?

116 sessions from start to finish in about two and a quarter years. We missed our weekly session all of exactly 3 times during that stretch, each session lasting on average 6 hours.

We are 26 sessions into the current campaign, and we're still building momentum, which is thrilling to me because while I've played more sessions per year in past years, I actually haven't had group continuity this long. (Cursed grad students, getting jobs and moving!) I think this one's got real long-term possibilities.

In my group's epic campaign, we have played over 500 sessions in a 12 year period. We meet every week for 6-10 hours of gaming.

good lord - i couldn't possibly give you a straight answer. my current group has been meeting since summer of 2002, but in that time we've had 5 people DMing different campaigns and no particular campaign has run for every consecutive week for any time longer than 2 months, so really it's a big mish-mosh of on-again off-again campaigns. we meet just about every week, so i'll guess somewhere between 125-140 sessions so far?

So what are your stats like?

Typically we meet every week. We miss (usually) Xmas week, Thanksgiving week, and about two more throughout the year. If it's possible to make up a session on an off day we do so. Everyone but two people are married, with children (two with small kids).

The last long term game was from September 2003 to December 2004; so, I'd estimate 55 weeks, give or take one or two.

Since about 1998 or 99, the main game has cycled in almost exact one-year lengths because our main GM was a retail manager, so he would usually arrange things to coincide with the Xmas retail insanity; around the beginning of November the game would climax and end, the another person would do a pick-up game until mid January when the new campaign would start.

Before that, the record was 5 straight years of one Call of Cthulhu campaign where we met at least once a week. At that time, only one person in the group was married, and she played as well so we'd only miss a session if one of the major family holidays fell on that exact day, and then we'd just make it up the next day or play twice the next week. So that would have been around 250 games.

Yesterday's game was # 620, but that's games in the world including diverse pcs. However, many many many of the characters are interconnected in one way or another; and members of one group often cross paths with those of another.

Wow!

Hi,

Some really long-running games here that are also weekly or bi-weekly!

I run two long-running campaigns: my Freeport game started shortly after 3e and is up to 34 sessions as we only manage to get together every 6 weeks to 2 months.

My other long-running campaign is a new one with my girlfriend and is up to session #11. The campaign before this ran on and off from 1991 to 2003 but unfortunately I didn't keep count of the number of sessions -- doh!

Cheers

Richard
