How much support do you want for your favourite campaign setting?

The Blackmoor level (it has support? where?)
The Greyhawk level (occasional supplements and adventures)
The Forgotten Realms level (drowning in material)

Do you want its designers to dictate the course of your campaign with big plotlines that affect the entire setting (e.g. the Time of Troubles for the Realms)?

Do you want its designers to provide sourcebooks on areas (e.g. Iuz the Evil, Waterdeep and the North)?

Do you want adventures with plothooks? (e.g. Against the Giants/Descent into the Depths).

Do you want adventures that affect little around them?

Something in between?

We're a diverse bunch here. Though I'm referring to three D&D settings, there's nothing stopping you talking about Shadowrun, or Star Wars, or Star Trek, or Dune, or Seafood (sorry... Kalamar). :)

What would be your perfect level of support for your favourite campaign setting?

Cheers!

The more the merrier.More for me to choose from.

Not everything that comes out will be useful to me but it might be useful to you.

So I guess I'm for the Forgotten Realms way of thinking.

The more sups the better, as long as the quality doesn't suffer for it (I can always choose not to buy those I don't need)

Hold the world shaking events please, I'm alergic to them after the 5th Age and Time of Troubles.

On Blackmoor support:

Yep. :) Not all that much; more support than None At All (like my original campaign setting Corimen that has never been published and never will), but less support than (say) Greyhawk.

Just examples for levels of support... back to the discussion now. :)

Cheers!

i'm a big fan of region sourcebooks. i like to come up with my own plots or adapt plots from books & movies. but i tend to get too into world-creating and write my own region sourcebooks and don't have enough time to make the campaign. (oops!)

I'll have to agree with the others that more the merrier. The primary reason for me using FR is the level of detail and support. I happen to think that FR is a sub-par setting; nonetheless, there are five, six free pdfs detailing a large portion of Faerun available, down to individual inns. This is a real time saver. Plus, FR is so big, it took no effort on my part pasting Rokugan to Faerun, with the Shadowlands conveniently in the middle.

I'm looking forward to the Silver Marches, mostly for the updated info on the wards. Wards in 2e, as described in the free pdfs were ridiculously powerful and plentiful; there were dozen inns with wards preventing the use of magic. Inns, for christ's sake! I'm hoping that the upcoming book weakens them a bit.

So far I'm in the Scarred Lands version, which is between GH and FR. Course it depends on WHERE I play as Termana is only coming out the wood work, Asherak is a complete unknown, and the icy continent up in the North (name eludes me). Not every land has a Titan lying domanant near it nor does everyone follow JUST one god.

Jack: I still think I'm inclinded to use the Silverymoon website since it's a good update in my book. Though I'm sure the Silver Marches will be pretty decent.

Nightfall, I've looked at the Silverymoon site, and I didn't like it too much. I still use it for the city info, but the house rules just rubbed me the wrong way. I didn't like its implementation of ward magic, and definitely did not like the prestige classes, which I thought were a tad overpowered for PrCs exclusive to a single city rather than being broad concepts.

Granted, I haven't looked at any new updates, so I could be wrong; my copy is 1.2 or something like that. It was the one with second update. Nevertheless, I guess I can't criticize it too much as I didn't do jack to produce it and it's apparent that the guys put a lot of effort for a fan-based project. For what's worth, it's good enough that I'm using it for my Silverymoon.
