Lets Figure the Time
Hi all-
I think we all spend more than 15hrs a week playing and planning.
My game starts at 3pm and ends around midnight. That's 9 hrs. Add another hour just prior to that with vacumming, pulling out the table and moving the Ferrets out of the room, that's 10. Throughout the week, I'm at EN World, WotC, CanonFire and whatever else is 'major news' for the day. That's about 30-45min. a day. That's 3 1/2 hours making it around 13 1/2. Reading and responding to various posts is another hour per day. Making it 20 1/2 hrs. And having not had a real job for the past 4 months - I've spent way more than that - likely 2-3x as long on each area.
But that doesn't even include the actual making of npc's in eTools, reading Dungeon or Dragon, planning the adventure, or painting the minitures. Making npc's and whatever other eTools / by hand stuff is about another good hour, reading the potential plot lines in Dungeon and taking what is wanted another 2 hrs, reading Dragon another 2 hrs, and each miniture takes me about 4 -5 hrs (I try to paint one per week).
I'd say that D&D is a full time job, and I often joke that I'm a Professional Amateur Gamer. But now with classes and a job, I can't spend that much time. More pre-made adventures here we come.
What are your realistic times?
